2 hours, people!

I'm ready. Bring them on Chrome.

Honestly neither of them are favorites of mine, but I think I've decided which I will pick and why.

2 hours? Maybe I'll have time to try to persuade some people after all.

I have a feeling. This battle will have very passionate fans coming from both sides of the fence. This is going to be epic

Hopefully I don't type a huge mountain full of praise that is close to 700 words like I almost did with Nagi LOL!

It's coming, folks, so here's what we are going to do.

Watch Kyousougiga Episode 00.

And then think, just think a little bit about what you just saw and heard. Think about the music. Think about the art style. Think about the writing. Think about the action. Think about how much fun that was, and how it doesn't matter if you don't fully understand what's going on.

Listen: this episode very nearly approaches giving me everything I want out of anime as a medium.

Ditto to this. The art style is probably my all time favorite out of all the anime I've watched and the music is just...perfection. Although to anyone that hasn't seen it I'd say that you should watch from episode 1 as episode 0 is pretty confusing and could put some people off actually watching the whole series. I can only think of maybe 2 shows that stand even some sort of chance against Kyousougiga but none of them are from 2013.

I'm probably going to abstain in this round since I haven't watched either show, but I did see the previous seasons of Monogatari. So it's Monogatari or nothing.

Monogarari S2:

While Kyousougiga may have been better done, I enjoyed watching Monogatari a lot more.

Kyousougiga gets my vote for being the only one of the two I have seen, and because I generally like most of the people who form the core of KSGG's rallying squad.

I really enjoyed Monogatari but I have yet to finish the second season. Kyousougiga was a really awesome anime with an excellent story and great characters. Overall I liked Kyousougiga more which is why I am voting for Kyousougiga.

KyouSouGiGa for sure.

Iblessall said it above, but it's really true: KSGG gives us a glimpse of what anime can do as a medium.

Every piece of it, sound - animation - plot is in perfect accord with the strengths and limitations of Animation.

Edit2: An example image showing the little incidental pieces that use the animation and visual style to its maximum potential. I didn't even notice the yin-yang until going back to look for screens, but I can't unsee it now. It's a wonderful representation of Myoue and Koto talking (seriously. Just look at the amazing visual composition of that image. I could probably go on for 3 or 4 paragraphs about that on it's own. It's simply stunning).

There's more than that though, the stories it tells and the characters are amazing. The realiztion of Myoue and his growth and the sense that he's the character that has to change and grow (which you don't realize until near the end of the season) is beautiful and brilliant and touching (I was gonna go post some screen caps, but there's just too many good scenes to pick from... maybe later)

On a more personal note, I always love and prefer shows with a message. That's always a big plus for me. KSGG is different, and maybe better, in that it doesn't have ANY specific message, but still has a lot to say. In the end, though it is what it is:

edit

Also, KSGG episode 9 is easily the best single episode hands down of the entire year. It's really transcendant. I like elements of episode 10 more, but 9 has this immense and wonderful emotional force and is a perfect climax for the story. .. Or maybe not, visually 10 is stronger, especially them falling through the kaleidoscope:

Also also, god that OP. The first few bars get me every time.

Kyousougiga is pretty damn awesome and one of the most underrated shows last year. Still, I'm going to have to vote for Monogatari Second Series for its characters an dialogues. I think after all these years of watching anime, I'm still more used to Shaft's artistic style and their gags. Kyousougiga also has its creative way of delivery but I just can't find myself voting for it against Monogatari this round. I predict this match will be very close though, possibly need a tiebreaker.

KYOUSOU GIGA!
While I liked monogatari s2, I loved Kyousou Giga. I loved it's characters and themes of family.

And I'm gonna pause, I could keep adding images to that post forever, but that's mean on people with slow connections
