I could be wrong but seriously, RG is not the godkiller it's being cracked up to be.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

Railgun takes down a lot of bigwigs in tournaments many times before this thread has been created.

edit: different tournaments

Saimoe is a basket of very different apples.

But again, I could just be wrong.

Nagi should have been complete... and would have won this whole damn thing in my mind if it had completed things. That is still my disappointment with that series and I don't see it ever being revisited so it shall forever be a bit empty to me.

I'm legitimately curious as to what you mean when you say Nagi was incomplete. Personally, I see it as a complete story, albeit one with relatively limited appeal. What would it needed to have done to be "complete" in your eyes?
The romances, the situation with the world and the sea god. An open ending isn't bad but I had hoped for more resolution in the end. Some answers about whether life on the surface and/or the ocean goes on and... a kiss or a few between some couples would have sealed it for me. Stuff was implied, unsaid, unanswered... too much for me to be completely satisfied with it when it is likely the only season we'll get.

Compare that to my favorite the year before, which won. Shinsekai Yori, which bears many similarities to Nagi no Asukara in some ways. Spoilers for Shinsekai Yori in case you haven't seen the ending...

By comparison, Nagi left me hanging. Call me dense, needing to be hit over the head with a board to get it if you like but Nagi didn't wrap things up as nicely. "This world is filled with so many shining feelings." Just not good enough.

I'd suggest people be careful, Ioreen SPECIFICALLY warned people to quit doing that in this thread a day or 2 back.

I always feel that Eccentric Family should have been in these final matches. Too bad it didn't even survive the prelims. Watching the family drama was such a heartwarming experience. Because it is more grounded compared to another family drama called Kyousougiga, Eccentric Family induce a more lasting emotion too. This, in my opinion, makes it memorable.

At the same time, I have a curious question for SNAFU. I watched the show, and I wonder how is SNAFU a Romcom? Yes, there is comedy, but romance?

On the other hand, is Hataraku Maou-sama really that good? Anything outstanding, in particular?

Quoting a quote about quotes for emphasis about quoting quote quotes:

This is one big quote pyramid.

It certainly was!

I don't have time this very minute to go back and clean up all of that, though I may do so over the next couple of days. Therefore, I just want to remind folks that:

1) huge quote pyramids are an abomination. They are not useful past a certain point, and most of us don't, and don't want to, read that shit.

2) They are also a discourtesy to chrome_mist who has to wade through all these posts for vote-counting. Actual discussion is great, but extreme quoting just creates a mess. Please, please quote only what's most relevant, and delete the innermost part of a series of quotes before making your post. Please keep no more than 3 quote levels. Putting them in spoilers is not an acceptable workaround.

3) Anyone who persists in posting large quote pyramids past this point will be personally warned, and subject to account ban (which would mean you wouldn't be able to vote in some future rounds of this tournament )

On a different point, we're getting absurdly legalistic about this thing. That was my point with Luna, it's not so much who wins (I don't think either of them can beat SNAFU or AOT), but it's people should be allowed to vote how they want if their opinion changes and not be bound by the terribly arbitrary rules.

The thing is, there's a reason there's a limit. If someone forgets to vote, or changes their mind but doesn't change their vote before the round ends, or has an unfortunate accident that makes them miss voting, tough luck. Anyone could claim after time runs out that they changed their mind. Should everybody be able to change their vote?

I'm amazed that anyone was seriously thinking that was a valid exception to make, especially for something that's just for fun.

Don't get cocky kid. Also, don't bring a sword to a gun fight. You might get shot.

Honestly I treat the deadline as when Chrome actually comes in and says "TIMES UP", but it's not exactly a big deal anyways.

I just didn't wanna give the idea that I was encouraging her to change her vote in order to effect the outcome ><

I really enjoy Shin Sekai Yori, and was both happy and amazed to see it had won last year's battle thread. I'm kinda sad Chihayafuru won't have its chance now, considering it was my personal favorite from last year. I cannot decide which show to support at this point. All that are left either I'm luke warm about or dislike. I'll be reading some essays to figure out what to back going forward for sure.

SNAFU's original English title was "My School Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I expected" and that's what makes it a sort of anti-romantic comedy but there is some hint of romance in it as well for sure. But unfortunately Hachiman doesn't go for nice girls... at least at that time LOL. See if Yui gets another shot...

I didn't find Hataraku Maou-sama that spectacular. It was funny and cute but... the hero vs. demon king thing has been done to death already IMO. While having him work at MgRonalds was a funny twist I think it got old fast.

I agree, Eccentric Family not being here is a shame. The number of ones that didn't make it and yet we are looking at Hataraku Maou-sama... sigh. Ah well, what can you do?

I'm glad you liked Shinsekai Yori!

But I hope you'll vote on shows you liked rather than essays you liked. There is still time for watching a few episodes of shows if you haven't seen them. That's better than using gifs and essays.

This is a kind of terrible answer but it's hard to describe beyond saying 'just watch the first episode'.

The show is just an excellent combination of farce and legitimate action. And you'll get more than enough of a feel for it from ep 1.

I sometimes think that the prologue has one of the best fight scenes from last year ><

I know the name implies a love comedy, but I was actually referring to its content.
