I really wanna watch Gatchaman Crowds and Problem Children now because of the last round. I wonder what other crunchyroll-acclaimed anime I will discover thanks to this thread.

5. Hataraku Maou-sama - This series was hilarious and very enjoyable. I really liked the characters. It hit a lot of the right notes.

4. WataMote - A comedy series that utilized cringe-worthy humor. I found it hilariously entertaining. Oh Tomoko you.

3. Non Non Biyori - Not gonna lie to you, I enjoyed this show way more than I should have. Too much adorableness. Also very relaxing to watch.

2. Outbreak Company - This series surprised me. I didn't expect much from it but it turned out to be a hilariously pleasant surprise. It definitely provided me with entertainment and laughs.

1. Maoyuu - I really wanted more from this series. However, I will say that Episode 9 was amazing.

5. Hataraku Maou-sama - A refreshing take on a theme. Loved that everyone was so likable and though it held a fair dose of slice of life, there was impending drama and romance too. I looked forward to this every week.

4. WataMote - Very different from, but pretty much tied with the above. When I read about the show watched the first episode I wasn't sure if this might not seem inappropriately callous. But it wasn't. It was cringe-humor, but not insensitive. For me it worked well. Also, great OP.

3. Maoyuu - TBH, I found it kind of boring. But I did like the interactions between Maoyu, Hero, and Female Knight (always got to give credit for 3 in a bed ), and I did watch all the episodes.

2. Outbreak Company - It gets a 2 instead of a 1 because I at least remember, without looking it up, which show this was. I watched a few episodes but it seemed stupid and wasn't keeping my interest, so I dropped it.

1. Non Non Biyori - Oh, that one. Based on the description, I thought I'd like this one, but instead I was bored. Not sure why. I like slice of life, but not cute girls doing cute things, and maybe this was too much of the latter though it wasn't so extremely so as most--I don't honestly remember. I just know I dropped it because I ended up with no interest at all in the characters or what might happen next, or how they would spend their time if nothing happened next.

You guys are funny...

5- Watamote: This show was hilarious. The predicaments she got in, the faces she made, her dialogue, Tomoko was a very humorous character to watch. Definitely the funniest of 2013. Beyond the humor, i took a real liking to her character and really felt for her in the situations she was put in. At times the show got a bit dry and her awkward nature got a bit excessive, but those were small things that hindered it for me.

4- Outbreak Company: This show is really underrated. The themes were really fun, but also intellectual in it's attempt to spread a foreign culture to a certain fantasy world. The characters were cute and funny, the parodies were great and it was an overall good experience watching this.

3- Maoyu: Ok, this spot should go to the anime underneath it, but for the sake of strategy, it shall stay in this spot. I thought this anime was pretty alright...the characters weren't bad but the overall show was fairly slow in their attempt to make peace between humans and demons. They "started from the bottom" alright...the maid's speech was excellent though.

2- Hataraku Maou-sama: Again, this should be a spot above but, blah blah. The first seven or so episodes were excellent, but the latter half was so repetitive and lackluster it sorta rubbed me the wrong way at the end. I like this show, but now whenever i see it get mentioned, i'm always reminded of how bad the latter half was. The characters were good too but, man...finish strong por favor.

1- Non Non Biyori: This is really going to qualify over Watamote and Outbreak Company? Damn you guys love it safe. This anime was...boring. I remember watching the first episode, hearing the flute and saying this is going to be fun but the show moved slower than fat girls on a treadmill. I dropped this after 4 episodes because i couldn't stay awake during the show. There was a point where there was yuri vibes from the boring new girl and the small sister (ok, she was cute...visually) but not even that could keep me around. Yuri not being able to keep me around is a severe problem. Anyway, i hate this "Renge" character so much because of her inexpressive face and FREAKING triangle mouth (Onee-chan ga Kita's girl is an exception) and she mad this boring series even worse.

I don't think it's a case of people playing it safe, it's just this round is very comedy based so it's more about what type of humour you prefer.

Yeah, i understand that, but I'm also referring to some people's humor as "safe".
I mean, cute, loli country girl comedy vs. cringe-worthy, depressive high-schooler comedy.
One is definitely safer haha

How many are "passing" this battle, two or three?

If by safe you mean that one is funny, and the other one isn't, then yes, I agree.

It's fun to ride a roller coaster... but after a few decades, you just want to get off and rest a bit.

Thanks.

Doesn't look like I can kill WataMote then. Sadface.

I don't see how "safeness" makes Non Non Biyori any less funny or any less of a well-rounded slice of life than anything else. What do I care if kids are allowed to watch it? It's not like you have to enjoy it, but don't denigrate my sense of humor.

Current tally
(counting one person's votes the way he meant them, not how he wrote them):

Hataruka - 195
Non Non Biyori - 141
Watamote - 138
Outbreak Company - 129

Haha, I should have put a disclaimer. There's a very good chance I messed up somewhere. Don't know where I gathered that many extra votes though.
