I feel like I'm wasting time bothering to tally these votes.

It's interesting reading people's reasons though, as always.

You should vote, too. Which you haven't yet, right?

I don't care about either one; and Gargantia is like a fish in a barrel, I'd feel bad shooting it with Misaka's railgun.

I'll save my energy.

I'll vote Railgun too, I guess. I liked both most of the way through. Both shows fell off towards the end, but since I had built up such high hopes for Gargantia to turn out to be something really classic because of Gen's involvement in the project and the early mystery, I was more disappointed in that.

Oh no...I'm having a nightmare where TWGOK and SNAFU have to go up against each other.

But also a happy daydream where AoT and KLK battle it out.

Hopefully your nightmare is not as bad as the Golden Time one you had before, I kid , I kid.

Well, eventually each show has to stand on its own merit and one will have to be chosen from the bunch, so I guess what matches up with what does not really bother me at this point. It also helps that I think of this battle as just something to be fun and to learn more about why people watch what they watch. I actually learned a lot about what things people look for in shows and what types of things appeal to or bother some. I've also found I might have overlooked some potentially interesting anime and will likely check those out at some point. Ultimately, I think what is picked is not indicative of the "best" anime of 2013, but what anime is the most recognized and favorably viewed by a small portion of crunchyrollers; especially because of the small sample size of the crunchyverse represented here, ha.

RailGun S

Because the sister arc. That really should be enough to get it past ANY anime that it's competing against (unless it was Magi). Need I say more? The sister's arc deviated so far from the tone of railgun, even though like a third of it was copy and pasted from index, the value in the scenes was just amazing. I also enjoyed seeing how the sister's arc made BiriBiri develop in the filler arc that followed it. If this show was on Crunchyroll (or perhaps this franchise) it would be uncontested.

Suisei No Gargantia

Doesn't get my vote. It is a great show, but it had the name Gen Urobuchi. I was completely disappointed watching this show. I expected so much more than a slice of life show. I enjoyed this show, but it just cannot compete with THE SISTER'S ARC.

Ok, since this seems like a one-sided thrashing, anyone want to make some predictions for the next rounds?

Personally, i want to see Watamote and Non Non Biyori go at it.

I don't remember that.

LOL I'M HILARIOUS. This one wasn't an actual nightmare, btw.

As long as
Magi S2
Nagi no Asakura
Log Horizon
TWGOK 3

don't face each other, every other battle is negligible. ^.^

Railgun S gets my vote.

Railgun hit a lot of good points with Misaka's development, but missed one key point that is pretty critical for this type of story. It neglects to portray the risks her friends take by helping her. I think they gloss over this at some point, but it is not satisfactorily addressed. After such a success as the Sisters arc she may be a bit overeager to involve people (which is sorta what happens in the Silent Party arc). The story should have the character that goes to help and gets hurt, because they didn't understand the gravity of what they agreed to.

In the end though, you really can just think of the above as "I want to watch more Railgun", and Gargantia itself was not too hot in comparison.

Gargantia was a misframed story. The first episode opened with a huge space battle that felt like it had the fate of humanity wrapped up in how it played out. Then immediately we're dropped onto Gargantia for some sci-fi post-apocalypse slice of life. It's fine to have world building episodes and thematic development, but after such a fast paced and strong opening it created a false expectation (not going to lie, Gen Urobuchi's name tied to this project also contributed. I thought people were gonna die starting episode 3.) Then lastly I expected the series to end with a conflict that felt just as grand as the opening space battle; however, that went unfulfilled. Hence the misframed story.

Suisei No Gargantia - I liked a lot about this show even if the pacing was sometimes off, and I didn't feel completely satisfied with the wrap up. The story was good and the characters likable--plus we really did get to see Ledo develop and deal with being thrown into a completely different world, and so many responses to each situation were believable. I always looked forward to seeing this show each week. Also, Chamber was amazing.

Didn't expect Railgun S to dominate.
Is this the true dark horse?

I vote Railgun S. Gargantia just petered out in the end while Railgun held my attention even through the filler second half.

It was alright. And I haven't watched Railgun S.

Gargantia

Well, for starters, I haven't seen Railgun S, but I genuinely thought Gargantia was an awesome series. Chamber is probably one of my favourite mechas now (though I still kinda can't get over that ending).

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
I haven't watched any of these, but I googled images from both series and Gargantia has a lot of fanservice.
I don't care which pass to the next round; however, I know that Railgun has a lot of followers and this could bring problems to my series next rounds; this vote could help that cause.
