anyone having problems with streaming to chromecast?
whether it's through the browser or via android, every now and then the video will skip several minutes forward or backwards, then the picture goes blocky and audio becomes garbled and eventually freezes. It's not a network issue on my end, everything else streams ok. |

TheAncientOne wrote: An Amazon Fire TV app with HD shouldn't be a difficult mod from the OUYA app (which supports HD), as like the OUYA, it is a single hardware configuration, unlike the variety of hardware the general Android app has to deal with. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked simply if the apparent check for the OUYA hardware was changed. (I say apparent, as someone sideloaded the OUYA app onto a Fire TV and while it worked, they stated it didn't appear to support HD, which the OUYA app explicitly has been stated to support). It could have been in using the OUYA app to trial HD support, there was Tegra GPU specific code that needs to be generalized to work on the PowerVR GPU's in the Kindle Fire family. Wait ... are you using their WiFi or are they using yours? If they are using your's, serves them right, but wouldn't it be easier to update your protocol, password and turn off broadcasting your router's presence? If you are using their's, isn't there a risk they'll update their protocol, password and turn off broadcasting their router's presence? |

Is anyone else having problems on android with the Chromecast icon showing up? I could only use it once, but the icon to stream it to the TV didn't show up again. I had deleted the app and got it again and it still doesn't work.

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide TheAncientOne wrote: You must not have visited the "Help!" section of the forum much since it was released. Melicans wrote: I'd never even heard of the Chromecast until now. I guess that means the Wii U really is the bottom of the barrel for a streaming app? Note the paucity of video apps beyond the "big 3" on the Wii U. Every wonder why that is? Anyone can develop an app for the Chromecast. That certainly isn't the case for the Wii U. If you haven't heard of the Chromecast before, you must avoid tech news like the plague. While Google hasn't announce sales numbers, they may have already sold more units of it than the Wii U. (It sells for only $35). patricktiel wrote: why chromecast i think there more windows 8 people that want a app zo we can watch on pc/tablet and TV Apparently you don't visit the "Help" section of the forum very often. If the requests in the there section are anything to go by, yes, more people asked for it than a Windows 8 app. Also, a Windows 8 app is a matter of convenience, since on a Windows 8 device, you can view CR via the web browser. Before this, the only way you could view CR on a Chromecast is if you had a computer with the Chrome web browser, and used tab casting (which was less than optimal, especially if you had an older computer). Then why would CR available on the PS4 AND PSVita? The Vita has sold like crap, even worse than the Wii U, and the PS4 is at the start of its life cycle... Also, if the indie support on Wii U is anything to go by, I don't think making a CR app for Wii U can be much of a problem. |
