It's utterly impossible, but it never hurts to dream, nya!

I'm not even one of the bigger Ping Pong fans out there, and even I think that would be kind of awesome. I wonder if the outcome of that match would mirror the anime equivalent.

I would shed tears of joy if that could ever happen.

.001 percent chance.,,,,But thread...if you can please...Please...

There's a chance they could end up on opposite sides of the bracket, but there's still a small chance depending where they seed they could end up on the same side.

Ok so I watched Korra, great episode. Loved the action. TENZIN IS THE MAN.

Also I'm ready for someone to beat the crap out of the Red Lotus, hopefully not by plot armor.

lol isn't being the avatar by default plot armor.....?

Well.....I guess that comes with MC status. What I mean is I don't want any victories pulled out their butts.

That was such a garbage battle. Although I'm sure it was better in the LN.

Why am i busting my ass writing things prevalent to the characters then?

I felt like this in the best girl's thread. I mean it's obvious people enjoyed the thread and had a lot of fun doing all the fanfic and stuff, but I came out of it literally learning NOTHING about why people liked the characters they liked.

Whatever the tournament organizers want to do with their own tournament is fine, but I desperately hope chrome keeps her annual tournament the same. I actually like learning about what people like about what they like in these threads.

Edit: I feel like that sentence had too many likes in it...

Completely and unfortunately true. Believe it or not, i actually read, or should i say read the reasons behind people's votes. Even if it was for characters i hated, i would want to know why the heck someone would vote for her/him. But the same mindset i came into the competition with, i left with, except the characters i disliked before became even more irritating to see. They're just liked for the sake of liking them, that much is true.

It's obviously the organizers tourney, and they will and can do whatever the hell they want with it. They could change the rules, favor their own characters, or rig it how they see fit, i'm used to it. It's fine and i'll still play until i get fed up or banned. I suppose i took Chrome's tournaments for granted. There i actually learned A LOT about shows i haven't seen and why people like them.

Ah got ya....very unlikely with the current ramp up they have.......

But if they do falter, it will be a great shame to an otherwise spectacular Book so far.

NOT A VOTE

*munches popcorn*

This thread just got even more awesome.

Gold certainly has a point, ideally the rationale behind each vote would be detailed, logical, and clearly connected to the character's relative merits. I can certainly see the merit behind the argument that if one is not interested enough to provide such a rationale for their votes, they're probably not interested enough to participate in the tournament in earnest.

Here's the catch, however: as a general popularity contest this tournament has one (and only one) core aim: to discern which characters the largest proportion of people liked. Requiring provision of a rationale for each vote is secondary to the tournament's actual purpose, and really serves only the secondary functions of providing a persuasive argument for others to also vote for the character of interest and to provide the tournament's administrators with material to check and ensure that a participant isn't simply voting with multiple accounts.

That isn't to say that secondary characteristics of the tournament such as campaigning and essay drafting are unimportant or unwanted. Well-crafted essays and clearly thought out rationales are welcome here, and they absolutely add to the fun factor for the game. But they are secondary to its nature as a popularity contest, and so eschewing them from any given vote doesn't actually harm the game's ability to function in any substantial way.

The best thing to do would be to campaign for your favorites as strongly or as weakly as you are inclined, and to have fun doing so regardless of whether others are matching that effort. Just because the majority of votes and campaigns are simple and plain doesn't mean that yours has to be, and it doesn't mean people aren't paying attention to your work. I didn't even know Love Live existed until the Best Girl tournament, and I feel a stronger connection to Maki precisely because I've read Hayate's writings thereupon.
