I agree. I can't find a way to search through different episodes from my queue.
The app looks much nicer but does not seem to have the same functionality.

I am also seeing static (glitzy looking) horizontal lines that were not there prior to this update (really a "down-date" [not up-date] as it removed features and made usage 4x as hard or impossible).

I am a premium member and have been for years, so the upgrade to HD means nothing.
However, I can tell other standard (non-premuim) members that things look worse in HD now than they did before.

I can tolerate the static lines, I can't tolerate the new app (user interface).
It is miserable.
I must re-think my subscription.
Premium is now worthless, and it is near impossible to view the episodes I want.

Others are reverting to using their laptop, but what kind of solution is that!!??

This update is pretty awful. Did anyone at CR actually test it on a Roku?

I think they tested this on a Roku, but did not test it on a Roku customer.

BRING BACK THE OLD CRUNCHYROLL APP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with PrimerBlock: bring back the old ap.

I just realized what a shift this has made for me: I can't recommend CR to anyone any more!

This update has made me realize CR is steering off course, and reminds me of the dimwits at Netflix from a couple years ago when they messed with their customers, trying to split DVD rental and online watching into two companies.

Anyone remember the embarrassing attempt at converting Netflix ot "Quickster" ?

CR people: get a clue that this is new Roku ap is awful and it drives people away.

But is it 720P or 1080P ? I'm stuck at my sister's house untl tomorrow nite . We were watching Toradora just fine yesterday (and laughing our butts off) . Now I installed the update & we cannot watch anything , her speed is waaayyyy too slow ! Going to try to get her to up it tomorrow . AT&T rips off DSL customers . She's paying $44.00 a month for less than 1.5 meg ! ! BTY , everybody quit wining < we finally got HD ! They will work out the kinks . Now if I could get HD on my Samsung blur-ay player ...

I could care less about HD when it comes to a lack of usability. HD is nice to have but I was happy without it as long as the app worked.
Whining? If we don't complain they will not fix the issues. At this point I think Crunchyroll should prorate my premium account until they fix this crappy app.

This update is extremely disappointing. It's the exact application on the Playstation network that wouldn't let me choose a genre to search through. Now I have to hop on my laptop to find a show I might be interested in, and then type it into the search. The update may look prettier, but it is not user friendly.

I noticed that now you can't search genres too. The broken queue UI is my biggest complaint, but not being able to search by genre is also a stupid idea. So now I have to browse through all the Ecchi series even if I don't watch Ecchi.
As a once happy customer I am really rethinking my relationship with cruchyroll. I might as well got back to funimation. The primary reason I stopped funimation was because of it's insipid alphabetical list.

Yes , it has issues . But most of the complaints come from not knowing how to use the remote functions . I do too at first until I realised it was like my bluray player. I had a pickle of a time using it at first too. Internet speed also now plays a big role now . Adjust the setting down on the webpage if it buffers too much . It'll vet there ,it only too two plus years to get HD.

The video quality on mine is absolutely horrendous. And no, it's not my Internet connection. I tried Netflix and quality is perfect. Apart from a nicer looking UI, this is a huge step back.

I don't think this is a problem with the update. I don't like the changes to the update but the video is fine. You may have a bad Roku.

I don't think the web settings have anything to do with Roku video quality.

If you lower the web settings down , it affects all products linked to the account .

Most of the complaints are directed towards the queue and the unnecessarily complicated layout of the interface, it's not about the remote, as poorly planed out as that is.

The remote is fine. The menu doesnt feel fleshed out at all. the queue should give the option of choosing the episode. Like what if you want to rewatch a previous episode? I would have to use the search engine....... making the queue half-pointless. either flesh it out or give back the old interface.
Sorry to sound like a grumpy grump, just putting my 2 cents in.

Serious.

Same here. If I wanted to spend my time navigating through a complex set of button combinations and searches I would just watch anime for free on YouTube. I happily "PAY" for a simple intuitive interface.

Note to the new user interface authors:
Read the book "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug

To the manager of the new user interface authors:
If your programmer has not read "Don't Make Me Think" put them on the top of the next layoff list!
