I haven't seen a CR manager post since Friday. I suspect they aren't even looking at this stuff. They all seem to have gone home for the weekend. Otherwise, you'd think someone would have turned off the big yellow banner at the top of every page, promoting the "updated Crunchyroll app on Roku!" and effectively rubbing salt in the wound on every page load.



Strongly suggest that a reply from the US team be posted (yea I know it has to go through legal) but it would assure the user base that there was concern on your part about a large segment of the user community. Failure to offer some commentary would be detrimental given the storm of protest on the forums - especially from the premium user base which represent an important part of your value stream (big business term for earnings and profitability).


Yup, wise advice, which they should heed. However, so is "test your software thoroughly before general release." I'm not sure CR listens to wise advice.

I appreciate that Crunchy is trying to move forward and help us get quality streaming for our Roku devices. I am a Roku platform fan big-time. I always wanted better quality on the streaming than "two-dots" for my 1080p and broadband connection. But I have had nothing but frustration and challenges since the update. I actually put the Roku remote down and we skipped family viewing time today because it wasn't working properly.

I have 4 Rokus and a family of anime enthusiasts. We bought three of those for use with Crunchyroll only. Crunchyroll is how we unwind from the daily grind. We watched 1 show today when on a Sunday, we would normally have watched over a dozen. I enjoy the old shows too that's not in current simulcast and unless I search for them it's a pain to find them. If the episode has been watched, then I have to rewind it.

The app is only intermittently functional and the behavior is erratic at best for us.

There aren't any "play from beginning" and "resume" features available that I can tell. Everything is "play from the ending credits" for us. I can't watch any previously viewed show from the beginning, FF RW doesn't work but in minute increments. Holding down the keys move the slider but it reverts back to end of show so I have to rewind slowly. There are also no frame indicators meaning I can't tell where I'm moving to in the show.


Anyway, I guess I've ranted enough. I love Crunchyroll and I love the Roku platform. We request the old app back with better than "two-dots" quality playback for 1080p TVs. The absolute breaking points for us were when I felt true frustration over there being no series cover design/art, no genre groupings and ratings, and no "still frame" previews while skipping back/FF/RW through the show.

thank you! I am not sure how happy I should be about this since I pretty much still hate this new iteration of this ap, however, I am pleased with a wee bit more functionality.
I appreciate your help though! This means I can at least access other episodes, even if I can't tell if I've already watched an episode any longer by just clicking on an episode.

On some older shows (like Cardcaptor Sakura), I can't seem to select the subtitled version. From my queue, only dubbed version will play. Disappointing.

Dear Crunchyroll,

This update is a mess. The visual is good, but functionality is horrid , so what was the point?! All I wanted you to fix was the obnoxious 5-7 minute hang time. Well way to go, but you wrecked everything else in the mean time. Why is fast forwarding and rewinding so awful? The old way worked. Why did you mess up the que? It no longer updates to the next episode automatically. The rotation thing is nauseating. Why is picking a episode so bloody difficult? what is the point in just going to the beginning and end of my que? I have a epic amount of shows in it and that's bloody useless. Not everyone has the roku three. It has more buttons. I don't have some of the stupid buttons on my older roku remote.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????? Did you even TEST THIS??

I've been with you as a paying premium member nearly FOUR YEARS. Who were you thinking of when you did this update? Who gives a rip about frickin HD when the interface is so god awful that you can't watch anything? I bought my roku to watch crunchyroll, not the other way around!

Fix it. Quickly. Please. Seriously. Or let's go back to the old one and you can just fix the dratted hang time like I've been asking you too. Because this is just silly and it really shakes my faith in the service. Which I would like to point out, when I stared paying, the computer was the ONLY choice. I can go back to that. It means going back to the days where crunchyroll isn't authorized to pay for itself on my card without question. I like not having commercials. Let's not do this to each other. I don't want us to breakup over this silly mistake.

I also have had a hard time with this app.
The way to get around it is to go on your computer or tablet, select the show you want to watch then start watching it. The app will think that is the last episode you watched and make it available with all future episodes one at a time. Or you can just use your history if it is recent enough.
I like that is in 1080 but the app needs much more tweaking.

Why do you need to change something that doesn't need fixing? While I like the design of the new UI, it's a pain to navigate compared to the old app.

Improved video streaming? It takes nearly THRICE as much time to load an episode now.

Why can't I go to the old and new episodes of a series with ease? That's a big problem considering that the app doesn't move forward to the next episode.

What's up with the rewind/fast forward? It's slow and the lack of frames is inconvenient.

By the way, there's no difference in quality. If anything I would say the Roku always had HD (from my viewing experience).

I'm pretty sure there's more issues that I missed.

Conclusion: PLEASE GIVE US BACK THE OLD INTERFACE! The only good thing about it is the new UI, which isn't exactly a pro considering it's a re-used design (playstation app). At this rate I'm going to have to switch to my Android tablet. You guys messed up BIG time :\ This issue has to be fixed fast before you lose a good chunk of your subscribers (it's already started).

Ever since it upgraded I'm having trouble watching shows..Like I went to watch One Piece and in the middle of the episode it stops and says it can't play!
