New Roku Update!

while i love having CR for my roku, this latest update is junk in my honest opinon. i could search easily, pick episodes to and do anything on my roku wiht previos app setup. now.. i am stuck on watching latest episode ONLY on my shows.. this is problematic. i suggest two old sayings.
1: Follow the KISS method! (Keep It Simple Stupid)
2: If it aint Broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Howdy!

Just wanted to touch base and let folks what we are currently working to address.

We are currently working on making many improvements to the queue.
- The ability to access the show's information along with the full list of episodes for a show (* or info will show episode list - tentative)
- The queue will automatically refresh and update to the next episode.
- The ability to remove a show from the queue will be implemented.
- When a show is played from the queue, after the episode finishes the next in the series will play.

Users in the United Kingdom who have a Now TV Box - Model 2400SK
- We are working to make sure that this product is supported & that the service is available once again.

Advertisements - # of advertisements during playback
- There are now four ad blocks per episode. One preroll & three midrolls.
- Some users were / are experiencing all advertisements front loading. We are working to correct this.

Streaming Issues - "Video failed to connect or stuck at 'Connecting to Video Stream'..."
- If you are experiencing this issue, can you please let us know what Model Number Roku you are using?

Lines of Static - Tearing in video.

You guys really aren't reading the posts are you Bjaker? Yes you can work out the bugs but the new UI is a complete waste of time and resources. It is not user friendly at all, compared to the old one. In short it is not an improvement and needs to be rolled back. This is the main issue I and many others have with it bugs nonwithstanding.

This update makes the application less useful. You can no longer use the side-arrows to fast forward or back. The lack of images when attempting to fast forward or back makes doing so a guessing game. Also, using the play button as a menu & changing the function of the OK button constantly is non-intuitive. Very frustrating. None of the visual enhancements were worth making navigation so obnoxious.

I'm rather surprised at the lack of Quality Control in this update roll out.

The installation caused account link errors and now the most basic functions of the Queue are gone... it truly is an inferior product.
Instead of being a step forward, you've skidded backwards and fallen on your a**

I endorse the "Give us back the old app, while you hammer out the bugs on this one" opinion... this update was D.O.A. and needs
to be addressed quickly... don't make us the beta testers.

So, like many others, I'm wondering where the menu is for each individual show. For instance, I've watched several episodes ahead in one anime and my mum has yet to catch up. Why can't she select the episode she wants to watch before she loads it? Another example: When we're finished an entire series, we take it out of the queue; how do we do that now?

The ability to re-watch a show from the beginning? This is vital!

I see a couple semi-answers to my questions in here. I asked about the menu for each show, and what Bjaker is saying is that they're "working on it; please be patient." At the moment, the * button does nothing on my Roku, but I'm assuming it will soon.

As for us being BETA testers, how can they smooth out the wrinkles and fix the problems if they don't have day-to-day users actually using the product. This way they can quickly see which problems receive the most complaints and need to be fixed the soonest, and which problems are only affecting some people here and there. Yeah, it sucks for the day-to-day users, but the techs doing it all themselves aren't going to catch everything: their own amount testing just won't be enough.

Ditto. The queue does not update from one episode to the next without going out of the app completely. Nice look, but not as easy to use.

Definitely needs work. Nice look, poor execution. Should not have launched unless key features were functional. That is good business requirements analysis and implementation. Not so fun that we are the guinea pigs. Appreciate your candor and honesty, but in the end, I come home after a very long day at work to unwind, not to troubleshoot another program.

BTW, most Roku remotes break after about a year, and many of us are using universal and/or smart phones instead. Does that matter to Crunchyroll or is that strictly a Roku thing?

Also, thanks for the great lineup! It is much apprecited that you keep pace with or surpass Hulu's lineup.

Obviously CRs intention with this update was to change the fact that Roku watchers only had to view one ad at the start of the show and now the've made it so you need to watch at least 4. Hey, no problem, I understand that money needs to be made but couldn't you have achieved the same effect without creating this terrible interface. I probably would have been inspired to pay for a membership so I wouldn't need to watch the 4 plus commercials but this UI is so much worse than the previously great interface that I may just stop using CR all together. Please please just re-instate the old UI with thet 4 commercial blocks and take my monthly membership money. Sounds like a win win to me. Fixing this bad interface would be like Microsoft bothering to fix Vista and even they weren't dumb enough to try that.

OK people, Just stop the bitchin' and start cancelling. The only thing these people understand is money. Just like what happened to Netflix, they didn't admit their mistake until they lost 800,000 paying members. A total of over 8 million a month! Maybe it's time to stop talking to their forums and start talking to their pocket books. If you completely cancel your account, premium and/or free, it will also make them less desirable to advertisers. Hopefully, at that point, they'll finally understand that their dedicated followers are no longer happy and have discovered one of the many other anime streamers out there and with no ads. Personally, I've only used CR for Roku. If no Roku, then no need for CR.
