Exact some problem here too

Ever since this update I haven't been able to watch anything. Every time I try to watch a show the app closes back to the main menu. I have a Roku 3 it is fully updated and I have removed and reinstalled the Crunchyoll channel several times and un-linked and re-linked the app to my account multiple times and deleted my app settings here to no avail.
At first I thought it was because I unsubbed to save some money for Christmas. At least I now know it's not because of that but this will keep me from re-subbing if it continues.

I'm thinking of using the crunchyroll app as a premium member on the new roku 4. Anyone tried that?

I am having the same issue on my Roku 2XS.
The crunchyroll App closes and sends me to Home every time I try to play an video.
I've tried:
- Soft and Hard Reboot
- Removing, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, re-linking, rebooting
- Changing Resolutions (480, 720 and 1080)
- Resetting my internet settings
- Rebooting my router
- Connecting via ETHERNET

All that to no avail.
I will not buy a subscription, because the amount of TV I get to watch a month does not compensate the expense.
For the time being I am using either my chromecast, ipad or laptop to watch streamcast to my TV. Although, I honestly rather watch directly from my roku.

Please fix this!

Same problem . . . Roku 3, Samsung PN64D7000, wired . . . Issue started about four days ago. After a few minutes, I get kicked out of whatever Chrunchyroll video I'm viewing and sent to the Roku 3's My Channels page. In the past few days it's gotten worse--now I can't play any videos on Crunchyroll through the Roku 3 (although when tested on any computer, everything works fine).

Contacted Roku; receipt of complaint acknowledged, further response pending.

Contacted Chrunchyroll; complaint acknowledged, advised it's a known issue and a patch solution is under development. Patience requested as a fix is soon to be forthcoming.

Sooner would be nice . . .

I am also having the problem where Crunchyroll quits to the main menu on the Roku. Have tried pulling the plug, restarting, removing the channel and reinstalling, attached one account, then another. Sometimes a commercial plays but never more than a second or three of any show.

Hi !

About those problems, I think it would help all of us if you would write whether or not you have a premium membership. I've read that people with a premium membership don't have those problems. Do they ?

As a premium member, currently using a Roku TV (Insignia, but there are three other brands) I can verify that I am not having the most recent problem which "free" users are complaining about, i.e. dumping them back to the Roku home screen. I can also tell you that one such user reported having the problem disappear while using a 2-day guest pass they acquired.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

That's not to say there aren't still leftover problems from the last major revamp of the app which haven't been fixed yet, but most of those are merely annoying, not really show-stoppers. I have these same (first 6) problems with a Roku-3, too.

Despite these, the app is still fairly usable on a day-to-day basis, and I do find that the queue works way better than Funimation or TAN; at least it keeps track of what episode of a series you are on, and once you have your queue set up correctly, there is a lot less button pressing to get a given episode started.

The rest of this is probably going to look like a rant, but really it isn't. I'm mostly reiterating a list of the little bugs that need fixing yet.

1) Sometimes at the very end of playing an episode, it just simply stops on the last screen (might be blank, might be an endcard) and doesn't return to the menu without pressing the back arrow button. This doesn't always happen, it is completely unpredictable.

2) Sometimes at the same point, there is an actual error message about checking your connection, and you have to press the center button for OK, but (for me at least) the show did already complete before stopping.

Both of those are annoying because they stop autoplay from continuing, but at least they do not prevent watching.

3) The time displayed for an upcoming episode with a black box is off by 9 hours when that threshold is exceeded. As time passes (less than 9 actual hours away), it is more benign, merely saying "available soon", which, while correct, is not very helpful.

4) Autoplay does not have a configurable on/off setting, you get it whether you want it or not. I happen to like it, but I know others don't.

5) Resolution preference is not configurable. It will always try to do adaptive streaming and deliver the highest resolution it thinks it can. This is not desirable for users with data caps; there needs to be a fixed or at least a "max" setting option that it will not exceed. Personally, where I sit, I cannot see any difference between 1080 and 720 other than how the subtitles display, so I don't see the point of wasting the bandwidth for the higher resolution, and wish I could cap it.

6) The FF/RW interface is not friendly. You always have to guess when to quit, and if you hold it too long (trying to get "most" of the way to an end) it goes all the way without letting you stop it.

With the Roku TV (which uses "Roku Stick" technology), I have one additional annoyance problem that I didn't have with the Roku 3. It may be because the TV can't be hard-wired with a cat-5 Ethernet cable; the TVs only work wirelessly.

7) Often, but not always, the picture will freeze within the first couple of minutes, but the sound continues on. Pressing the back arrow and re-starting the episode has, so far, always cleared the problem up; it never seems to happen more than once for the same episode.

Ok, so maybe this last part is a bit of a rant. Many of us long-time roku users were not impressed by the overhaul changing to PS3-like menus.. I find myself almost exclusively using the website to rearrange what's in my queue rather than to try to make the channel functionally work.

The developers would do well to look at the Vudu Roku channel to see an example of a really well-done interface, and emulate something like that instead.

Wow, big changes have occurred and it looks much more "roku-like" now. It's given me a good initial impression so far... Really like that they brought back the FF/REW images so you can see where you are as you speed through.

I use the free version of Crunchyroll. Having the same problem. It's been kicking me out of shows back to the main screen since Sunday.

This is with old and new episodes, doesn't matter, nothing will play.
I hope this gets fixed soon :c

It appears there's been an updated interface for Roku distributed (as of late last night, 12/08/15). I double-checked this morning; my (free) application is now working fine.

I'm so sad. I've tried all the things mentioned in this thread (reset device list, resolution, etc.) and still going on a week of this.

I work full time and attend law school at night. I look forward to watching Crunchyroll when I get free time. Roku just made me "upgrade" (read buy) a new box in May 2015 saying that services like Crunchyroll required newer hardware. The device isn't even a year old, and other apps do work (not that I care since I only watch Crunchyroll). I have a bad feeling all of the Nendoroids I've pre-ordered from Crunchyroll will arrive before I can actually watch shows on my television again.
