ARGH!.. The new interface is slow and choppy and half the videos aren't working anymore! Roll it back! Roll it back!.

The UI on this new app is an overcomplicated slow pain in the butt!!! I don't understand why couldn't they just add HD capability to the old app without changing the UI from what I could tell that would have made almost everyone happy! if its not broke then crunchyroll please don't try to fix it!

it can not have been a good morning for Crunchyroll and the management team.

I hope that you have read all of the observations being made. It is never easy working with a third party and the community recognizes that it will not be easy to deal with Roku to go back and find a way to make some of the changes mentioned (up to and including a roll back). But these options really need to be put on the table with your executive management in a way that results in swift and effective change which makes the service easier to use. They should share in feeling the unedited and unfiltered outcry, otherwise the impact on the user community could have an impact to the bottom line which is never welcome to the company or its investors.

So kudos for working so hard to make a cool change, but boos not doing more beta work to insure that the total package was going to offer the best of both worlds in terms of functionality and understanding how the service is used. Failure to fully understand the implications of this change is a serious omission in the testing and development process. It would not be tolerated in most other businesses.

Strongly suggest that a reply from the US team be posted (yea I know it has to go through legal) but it would assure the user base that there was concern on your part about a large segment of the user community. Failure to offer some commentary would be detrimental given the storm of protest on the forums - especially from the premium user base which represent an important part of your value stream (big business term for earnings and profitability).

Not a happy camper:

1. I have an older Roku where the remote does not have 3 buttons assumed by the ap.

2. There is no way to see the episode list from the queue. I have to type the name of the program in the search box to get to a place where the episode list is available.

3. Cannot browse by genre, can only search.

App was working absolutely fine for me this morning, then it updated.

No videos are working for me any more, none at all :/

The picture is great. Not sure if it's 1080p or 720p. But it's the sharpest picture I've had out of PS3, PS4 and Chromecast.

I'd be nice to have a comparison (if one doesn't exist) of all the apps since they all have different capabilities and also stop using generic terms like just HD, let us know if it's Full HD or not, will the app correctly do stereo and/or surround (the Roku does not, not even stereo).

As for issues, which hopefully get fixed quickly because it makes the app unusable. Queue only plays the latest unplayed episode of a series then you have to quit and go back in. No option to go to next episode or list all videos for a show. The thumbnails look terrible. The interface is much slower. Those are my top issues right now.

I like the new update, but there are serious issues. #1. The queue doesn't allow access to freely search through past and future episodes of a series. This is fundamental. Please fix ASAP!
#2. For free users, it used to be 2 ads before starting an episode. Now it is 4-6. No offense, but this is nothing less than abuse, especially when an ad repeats in the same showing, or if you have selected the wrong thing and have to go through it all over again. Bullying your viewers into watching more ads will lose more viewers than it will convince to upgrade to premium. Two was fine, three would be ok, but I'd stop there.
I've been a crunchyroll member for quite a while, I've even paid for premium membership when there was something that I really wanted to watch. I will continue too, so long as things work right for everyone, premium or not.

Okay so far I'm getting the hang of how to work everything but it felt troublesome. I haven't had any problems playing anything which is good because the drama shows wouldn't work for me earlier. I like the layout it's just the navigating that was confusing/weird.

I usually don't post on forums, especially if there's a lot of negativity, but this update is terrible. I was watching Gurren Lagan on my Roku 2 yesterday without any issues. I go and try to watch something different today and the app is unmanageable. Not to mention while trying to watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, I can only find season 2 episodes while I'm only on season 1. This update is a huge step backwards. I hope the people at CR figure out a fix, and quickly. I like all that the site has to offer, but you can't just release a crappy update to a widely used app.

While I am happy for HD videos, I have to state.. I hate the new design. If I wanted to have the PlayStation design I would go on my playstation. The old roku design was easier to use, doesn't take as long to load, and made it easier to find my shows. I really hope you guys go back to the old roku design

The main reason why I use my roku instead of my playstation for crunchyroll was the old design....if you were going to change a design it should have been for the playstion and use the roku set up....

When you are on the episode stripe in each individual show (not the queue) after a search, or a browse to the Anime menu, the down arrow changes the seasons to earlier ones if they exist.

I'm like many of the other people in this topic, I'm not very fond of the new update. I have a Roku 3 and have enjoyed watching most of the shows on my TV using my Roku Player. While I like the look of the updated app, it feel like it has lost some of its usefuleness. I'm also noticing it is very sluggish when browsing through my queue or shows. I could only stand watching a few episodes before I gave up and started watching some other Roku channel.

Jesus. The picture looks great, but everything else is awful. Why would you take away the ability to slowly skip via the right and left buttons? Not to mention rewinding and fast forwarding is slow and choppy themselves. Taking away the ability to view a list of episodes per show was a giant step back as well. It was so easy to browse through the thumbnails on shows (like Netflix has), pick a show, pick and episode, and go.

This reminds me of the old Hulu app that ran like crap before they seemingly started using built-in Roku stuff like the default search, loading bars, and timers. The app improved dramatically after that.

I loved watching Crunchyroll through my television set in my bedroom, but if this app doesn't improve/roll back within the next month, I'm just gonna cancel. Way too inconvenient.
