If you need to post a question about CR's site or service, including the price increase you should do so in in one of the categories in the Help section of the forum. Unless something has changed recently, you don't need a minimum number of points to start topics there --but you may also find someone has already posted about the question/issue you have.

There's also a FAQ knowledgebase outside of the forums:
https://help.crunchyroll.com

yeah that doesn't help with my question. i still need 500cr things to post a new thread, so you're wrong there. what i wanted to know was why crunchyroll premium is way more expensive than it used to be. it's actually extortion.

No, I'm not wrong there. I said "Unless something has changed..." Did you try to create a thread in one of the Help forum categories? It definitely used to be that unlike in the rest of the forums all users could start threads in Help regardless of number of CR points. It is possible that that has changed and I acknowledged that possibility.

You could also look for and post in threads about this that others created, such as /forumtopic-1026256/regarding-the-subscription-price-increase

Regardless, this thread in the Advice, Info, Recommendations category is explicitly not for this kind of question, as is stated in the opening post:

THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR CR SITE SUPPORT AND HELP. For Questions and Issues related to using the CR site or apps, please post in one of the categories/threads in the Help section of the forums, read the Help/FAQ, or contact support directly using the /contact form.

Now, let's stop derailing this thread with this conversation.

Yeah I figured, I kinda just wanted to get out of my system the disappointment with legit and legal anime services, there are so much free sites with HQ and every carry every other anime show. I guess nothing beats good ol' internet.

Hi,

Im Looking for some help to find an Anime as I dont have much to go on and figured that somebody here may be able to help me...

I saw a trailer that goes along the lines of....

Magic School kid goes up on stage and gets tested using a crystal ball looking device, this shows he has massive magical potential so he is put as Class S he then tests his magic attack level and is put as Class C.... then the class loser gets up, everyone hates him and his test is sabotaged so he is put as Class B and everyone is shocked at this as its better than expected... but then someone says the test had been sabotaged so they get a new crystal ball and retest him... he then gets put as a Class S and everybody loses their minds... he then tests his magic attack and gets classed as Class B level so beats the school prodigy jock type....

Sorry I havent got more to go on....

Hello everyone,I don’t know if this post belongs in this section but,I saw that Crunchyroll has a drama section and I realized that they don’t or haven’t added any new dramas for a very long time.I was wondering why.Is it because people aren’t really interested in dramas or is it that they just don’t gain the rights to them anymore?

Quite a while ago, a couple of things happened. For whatever reason MBC, the main bulk provider of K-dramas to CR either got a better deal elsewhere, or possibly priced themselves out of the range of profitability, but all those shows were removed, pretty much devastating the catalog. Somewhere in the same time period, CR either partnered with, or sold out to, Soompi TV, which didn't last long, and subsequently quit their own participation, and a lot of those shows went (mostly) to Viki.com. I haven't tried to follow it from there, but if you like dramas, that's probably the place to look now.

After the purge, it appears that CR seemingly tried a (very) few test J-drama shows, but that didn't continue, which if you think about it, having only a few simulcast shows, and only one, maybe two in any given season, is not going to be a successful draw for people specifically wanting to watch a variety of dramas. Sure, there is some overlap in interest between Anime watchers and Drama watchers, but really not enough to support both, and CR has pretty much quit trying. The few shows remaining here must have had some very open licensing agreements.

They had Drama Fever on VRV for awhile, but that got bought out and subsequently shut down, because, although fairly popular, it must not have driven the high level of profit wanted by a major corporate buyer. Corporations suck, they shut down companies if the margin is too low (maybe 3-4%) even if they are making out, but it's just not big enough...

Hi y'all! Hoping I could get some help with an anime movie identification? I've been searching everywhere for this film, any help would be great! I remember so many details but still can't find it... (If anyone does find it, I highly recommend it, it's very cool)

Floating Islands, Post-Apocalypse Fantasy/Steampunk, Clans at War, Brother and Sister

(tl;dr - Anime Brother and One-Armed Sister on Post-Apocalypse Floating Islands (with Ships and Guns and Clans at War) Exiled from Clan, Fall to Earth, find a community of Misfits on the Surface. Giant Robots/Monsters end up attacking the bad guys' main floating city (Activated on Purpose or on Accident?), and the surface misfits form an army and go to the floating islands, saving the main bad guy before she is killed).

It's an anime (slim chance just animated?) film set on floating islands above a mist-covered destroyed Earth. It's a hand-drawn anime style, reminded me of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind or something. I must've watched it online (probably on crunchyroll?) in the last year or so (2018/19), though the animation style makes me feel it was produced much earlier. It was probably in Japanese/subbed english, though could have been in English.

The islands are peopled by a number of clans with varying levels of tech: steam-type aircraft, guns, but also more medieval stuff. The protagonists are a sister and her younger brother whose mother is killed when their clan is attacked by a more powerful "bad" group of soldiers. Their father with a big beard and berserker style goes mad with vengeance, obsessed with killing the group. The sister (who maybe has only one arm, one hand, or a gun-arm?) wants to prove herself, but the younger brother is basically a pacifist and loves to draw. Their clan goes go to raid this private island with a house and a weapons stash, a kind of computer, or maybe a bunch of monsters or a doomsday device? The father nearly tortures the guy who runs it. Turns out it's an ambush and the enemy army shows up.

The brother refuses to kill a guy and is exiled / rejected by his father, and when faced with a choice the sister goes with her brother. Leaving on a tiny ship, they get attacked by the bad guys and fall down past the mist to the surface of the Earth, which is war-torn and destroyed by giant robots or monsters or something? They find a community of misfits and exiles who live in peace with one another and decide to live there. The sister reveals some of her soft interior.

They go on some mission to an ancient underground technology bunker for some reason and either (1) get control of a powerful war machine/monster or (2) accidentally unleash it, and the beast/machine flies up to the islands and destroys the bad guys' main city/castle. The misfits form an army with the brother and sister to go up to the islands to fight (again, not sure if it was against the "bad" guys or with them to defeat the monsters). In the end, the leader of the bad clan is nearly killed, but is saved by one of the main characters, and there leads to some new understanding of peace in the society etc. etc.

EDIT: I'm thinking that what the father got from the guy with the computer was a code or something to activate an ancient doomsday weapon which had earlier destroyed the Earth. This weapon is like a signal beacon which causes the robot/monster the brother and sister find on the surface to go crazy/activate and attack the enemy city. So if this is right, then the misfit army from the surface was probably actually DEFENDING the enemy city?

Sorry for the text dump! But this movie isn't mentioned in any of the asks I've seen, or on the various tvtropes pages I would associate with it. It is not: Laputa, Last Exile, Skyland, Dragonhunters, etc. Starting to believe I imagined it?

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Regards, S

I tried to make a post in the help section, but got rejected,so while this probably isn't the right spot, this is the only sub 500 forum area for general info/questions:

Does anyone know how to turn off the front page surveys? the current dr stone one blocks me from viewing the entire right side of the screen, and since I never participate in them, I would love to just stop getting them.

I didn't see anything in settings, so I wasn't sure if I just missed it, it is done elsewhere, or whether I am out of luck and there is no way to stop getting the popup.
