Ryuuko (Kill la Kill) - um... she's cute and oblivious and has a caring big sister... I don't know what else to say.

Shinichi (Parasyte - The Maxim) - Shinichi is so fucking badass he deserves to win. Plus, his right-hand man is pretty cool too.

ADVANCEMENT: Pending a tiebreaker, The 32 characters with the most votes will advance to the next round.

Example Vote

Shinobu Oshino (Tsukimonogatari) - Shinobu would definitely be the little sister I always pick up donuts for.
Hana Fountainstand (Hanayamata) - Hana would be the friend that always forces you to go to weird places and try new things.
Sora (No Game No Life) - I like Sora better than Ayano because while she accepts her fate, he tries to change his, and conquer the world.
Hiyori Iki (Noragami) - I like Hiyori Iki because she strikes a good balance between carefree and worrisome. she cares deeply for her friends and is willing to off put her own cure in order to better the lives of others. Even when what she thinks is for the better is actual for the worse she is always quick to try and remedy the situation.

Looking back at the nomination round results, Joseph Joestar was actually the third most voted character in Spring.

Thus, it goes without saying that many are probably bummed out that he didn't make it past the preliminaries.

Which includes....fellow participants: Blank !

Izumi Shinichi(Parasyte)-I'm choosing him because I feel his situation is a very harsh one. He has to fight aliens while keeping it a secret. All while he is slowly losing his humanity as he wants desperately to try and retain it.

Ritsu Kawai(Kawaisou)-I'm voting for her because she seems like a pretty nice person. I am also voting for her because I think she's older and I could probably relate more to her than I can to Shiro.

Kanie Seiya(Amagi Brilliant Park)-Honestly, although he may not be the nicest sometimes, but this guy has confidence in himself. And he never tries to feel sorry for himself, in fact he thinks it's stupid. It's really refreshing from what we usually see. Honeslty, I love Saber, if we were going by Character overall, she is WITHOUT A DOUBT better. But for 2014, she just didn't do enough.

This is my vote

Rumi Yokoi (Seki-kun)- She would definitely be my annoying classmate that sits beside me because whenever I would want to do things that weren't school work related, she would just interfere with my stuff.

Ritsu Kawai (Kawaisou)- She would definitely be my best friend in some way. I can relate to her in many ways and we also happen to share the same interest in reading. Thus we would probably get along pretty well.

Hi, and thanks for participating in our tournament. I just wanted to remind you that, as per the rules in the post marking the beginning of this round, you'll need to quote one of Ballot_Bot's posts when casting your vote in order for your vote to count. I'll link you to one of her posts, so if you could quote the post linked below and then transfer what you wrote here into the new post, we'd really appreciate it.

* Rumi - She'd be the girl I would have set by, and the reason why I was always distracted in class.
* Ritsu - She would be the girl I was secretly in love with but could never actually get the nerve up to confess lol.
* Nozaki - that best friend that's always drawing and tries to get you to do stuff for him.
* Hana - She would be the hyper baby sister that you're really protective of.
* Aoi - The cool (girl) friend from school that you're slightly jealous of because she's doing what you wish you could be doing.
* Kanie - that one friend that always has the really cute girls around him... and it's annoying. xD

This is my vote!

Winter

Yato (Noragami) - Yato is a very likeable yet still dignified character with a lot of depth to him. His antics are very funny, putting a smile on my face basically everytime there is a comedic scene involving him. Him dealing with his dark past is very interesting as well, as there is plenty of conflict there and seeing how he deals with conflicts both past and present make him a very rounded character. Plus, I don't give a damn about basketball.

Spring

Sora (No Game No Life) - I am a huge fan of smart main protagonists. Seeing a character outwit someone else through some complicated plot makes me happier than most other things in life, probably because so many characters in Anime are just too stupid to take. Sure, sometimes things get a little too ridiculous, but Sora manages to make that ridiculousness work. He's simply a very fun character I love seeing on screen.

Summer

Umetarou Nozaki (Nozaki-kun) - Hey, it's character versus plot device again, guess who will win this one I have stated my views on Yuuki plenty of times, so I see no reason to repeat those here, I just think that a character without any depth has no place in this. Nozaki might not be my favourite character of the show, I still like him a lot though. He's quite inspirational in his devotion to his work, being almost obsessed with it and pretty much relating every situation in everyday live to Shoujo Manga. He's one of the few dense characters I enjoy since in his case this is more due to him living in an entirely different world, as opposed to him being just stupid. He still has a defined sense of realism, making him a hilarious straight man whenever you are in need of one. Also, his imagination is just hilarious.

Fall

Shinichi Izumi (Kiseijuu) - Shinichi is an example of the "character struggling with his humanity" archetype done right. His development is gradual and not as sudden as in most cases, making his case more relatable. I also really like the way his character is framed. The Anime doesn't shy away from the fact that Shinichi is still a little boy and not an all knowing master of discussion. He loses arguments more often than he wins them, simply because a lot of his views are naive and childish. Him being confronted with the tough realism of the world is one of the main themes that Kiseijuu has to offer and honestly the one I find to be the most interesting.

Kanie Seiya (Amagi Brilliant Park) - Saber is another "character" I have given my view on plenty of times. She is flat as can be, being one of the least developed entries in this tournament, so I will most definitely vote against here when I can say that her opponent is a decent character. And that definitely applies to Kanie. He grew a lot during the show, starting off as basically just an arrogant prick, but his adventures at the park made him realize a bunch of things. He does have flaws, he needs the help of other people to succeed and, most importantly, he actually likes working with other people. At the end of the show his superiority complex is still there, but it is far less distinctive than it was at the start of the show, making him a very likeable character all around. But I guess he's nobody's waifu, so this is it for him.

THIS IS MY VOTE

Daiki Aomine – my best friend and rival. We’ll both be on the basketball team and competing (in a perfect world I totally can keep up with him right?). We’d never betray each other and probably waste our free time eating McDonald’s or something. It’d be really fun.

Ritsu Kawai – she’d be my next-door neighbor that I got along with. I’d just play games or read while she read. It’d be nice and relaxing. She’ll probably come over for sweets or dinner too.

Sora – the big brother I’d want but be upset to have. He’d whoop me in every game possible. I’d hope I had at least better social skills. I’d definitely look up to him though as he’d be too cool to watch win every game with ease.

Umetarou Nozaki – he’s my strange uncle. He can cook and clean, but he’s single. It’s obvious why he can’t get a wife too. He’s always excited about something, and he’s really weird in his actions. Despite all that, he’s my uncle, and I think he’s cool.

Aoi Miyamori – She’d be my older sister. I look up to her for pursuing her dreams, and her inability(if not just flat out unmotivated) to cook is similar to my real sister. Her cheerful attitude is her strong point, and I probably will watch movies with her all the time with a box of donuts instead of popcorns. That doesn’t sound so bad actually.

Saber – she’s definitely girlfriend material. She’s beautiful, calm, and intelligent. She’ll be dignified when she must, but her cute side is something I get to see. She’s also strong and kindhearted. She just checks all the right boxes.

Looking back, this would be one hell of a weird family dynamic, but hey. It's all good.

Ryuuko Matoi (Kill la Kill) : Fought against armies of enemies, has an awesome transforming outfit, and wields a scissor-blade (against clothing enemies no less xD)
Daiki Aomine (Kuroko) : Able to improve his skill set incredibly quickly, has a focused mode that allows him to blitz across the court, and uses street ball style.
Yuuki Konna (Sword Art Online): Beat several +22 floor bosses with only her friends in order to leave a mark in the game/world.
Illyasviel von Eiznbern (Fate/kaleid) : Has gotten beaten down yet always gets back up and pushes forward.
Saber (Fate/stay night): Took on a monster like Berserker and walked away, has immense resolve, and has battle awareness during her fights.

My Votes

Ryuuko Matoi (Kill la Kill)

They are both students and the comparison really ends there. Ryuuko is a hero out to save her school and by extension the world around them from the Covers. Rumi watches the guy next to her goof off in class. No contest for me here.

Yato (Noragami)

This God guy will do just about anything for 5 Yen. That's pretty cheap. Who wouldn't want him at their service? Also, have not seen the other show, not much of a sports anime fan here.

Shiro (No Game No Life)

She's really intelligent and adept at finding solutions to things. I like her style and her abilities. Ritsu is also nice, but Shiro stood out more to me for her role in her story.

Sora (No Game No Life)

The other half of []. I like how Sora can read his opponents well and though he's not exactly a super genius or anything, his perception is very keen and allows him to see things in ways most others might miss. He reads people well and has a great poker face. I also really like how comic the guy is with the other characters in the show. Ayano is fine but did not have nearly the same impact for me as Sora.

Yuuki Konno (Sword Art Online II)

Her struggle and her general positive outlook despite her situation I found really moving and touching. Nozaki is fine for his show, but Yuuki is the type of character that inspires and one I feel worthy to be called a best character because of her strength as a character to inspire and move others.

Illyasviel von Eiznbern (Fate/kaleid)

I found her adorable in Fate/Kaleid as this alternate version of herself in a magical girl setting. Lots of fun and laughs to be had there. I have not seen Hanayamata, so I can't really judge them against each other, but liked Illya enough to give her the nod here.

Aoi Miyamori (Shirobako!)

Tough match. I love them both but ultimately I'm going with Aoi due to her being a great female role model in anime. This is sadly pretty rare, and I just love how she's this very real and down to earth character who has work responsibilities and manages a wide array of personalities for little pay and little thanks. But she does it because she loves her career. She loves anime and dreams of making one with her friends from school one day. I think it's pretty great to have a story with a message like this one and with a character that is as great a role model as Aoi. Shinich is also great but just loses out slightly to the fact I admire Aoi as a character a little more overall.

Kanie Seiya (AmaBuri)

Love this dude. So fun to watch and seeing him manage a group of disinterested and dysfunctional employees was wonderful. He rekindled my love for Roller Coaster Tycoon, but he also reminded me why I love watching anime. The show is lively and fun but also has a nice story with an interesting and oft endearing cast of characters. Kanie being the ring leader of the bunch and the one who keeps them on course. For his magnificent managerial maneuvers, I give him the nod here. Also, I have not seen F/SN, so sorry Saber fans, I can't vote for who I don't know. But I do love Kanie and hope he can pull off the upset and win here.
