If you can only spare one vote for a Hunter x Hunter Character make that Biscuit Krueger

Or if you would prefer not to nominate someone from a long running series please consider Kurumi Tokisaki from Date a Live 2

Vote Kaneki

man, let's be real Kaneki was shit for all but 5 minutes in 2014

all these white hair kaneki pics, you be hypin the manga

Ah Rem...come one.

Well...I mean(yea the manga is superior no doubt) for Kaneki himself I thought the anime did a great job of getting him to that point at the end. I didn't like him either at first, but...you know I think the finale made me realize how good his development over the course of the story really was.

Hm, as an undecided voter, could you please elaborate on what makes this Kaneki a worthy nomination for Best Character of 2014?

Sure thing man.

In the beginning of the show, I didn't like him. I thought he was too weak, but then in that Finale.....everything came full circle, yea he was weak, but when I realize how he changed I saw that everything single that he went through in the anime greatly affected him and made him into what he was by the end. That.....is just great character development to me.

I mean seriously how many MCs do we see go through traumatic events over and over...only for their values and their personality to stay the same and usually the reason is their ummm tremendous "will power" . I'm not saying that's necessarily bad....but it's tiresome over awhile. And usually when they do change, it's usually superficial and lacks any depth.

This kid get's stabbed, bitten, slamed, and constantly get's the crapped kicked out him through the whole show. Not to mention the INSANE torture he went through with Jason. He cant even eat food any more(and now has to resort to sipping dead human remains through coffee), his whole world get's turned upside down. He get's pushed to the brink mentally and physically. And not only that....in the finale we see the depths of his psyche to see what makes him tick...and we literally see his values get broken down and changed into something new.

And I would also like to add that his values changed for the better imo.

I do say you made some fine points my good sir. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on his character. As a first time voter ( ), I could really see how much you respect him as a character. Indeed, you've made some compelling arguments. I shall highly consider nominating him in my votes. I look forward to seeing you campaign for him as the contest progresses.

Come on Vote for Tensai, as of right now she appears to have no chance but that could change with your vote.

It also very easily and more likely couldn't change but your vote would be appreciated none the less.

Thank you my first time voting friend. . No problem, it actually got me to organize my thoughts together for the future. This is was very helpful. Don't look to forward to that, all it will be is an occasional picture hear and there.

It's all good man, I got 4 people I really want to win. I think you'll probably nominate at least one of them anyway.

Even if non...we are still bros.

Vote for Hase Yuuki

Let's be real here for a moment.

This guy has gone through a lot and he still has so much more to do. He was the first friend of Kaori ever since her accident that left her with her memory loss problems. He made sure to make friends with her week after week knowing he'd have to start from scratch every time. Eventually his hard work started to pay off. Kaori gained more friends, became more outgoing, and started to overcome her memory problems if only a little.

Of course he didn't do this alone like so many other characters have done before. He was not "all-powerful", he had his doubts and his problems. But unlike most characters in this day and age, he took a "human" approach to the matter and asked for help from a friend.

Now imagine that you had to do all that and then in the span of a minute, all of this work was taken away. Everything you had done and worked for was for nothing. I don't even think I could handle such things and ever have the same enthusiasm.

Hase, however, didn't give up and he kept going. His goals became so much harder and had to face the reality that this could happen again at any time. That, my friends, takes true courage and heart to do. And yet, week after week, Hase asks for Kaori to be his friend.

That is why I believe the Hase deserves a shot at becoming the best character of 2014.

I'm sorry H99, but I agree with what Rem said =/

He probably was great in the manga, but I haven't read so I don't know. He'll also probably be good in the 2nd season as well, but I only liked him in the last 5 mins of the first season...

EDIT: Hmm, I saw your reply to Shawn.

You make a compelling argument actually. Though, I still don't think that would be enough for me to vote for him. Maybe in her next year's competition. I just need to see more out of this new persona.

It's okay man.

I mean, you don't need really need the manga to see why he's great. His character development throughout S1 is what led up to those last 5 minutes and that's what makes him a great character imo.

@edit That's understandable. I get u.

I've only watched a few episodes of the anime, but it definitely seemed like they skipped a good bit of his internal struggles at the beginning. It didn't portray just how desperate and messed up he was.
Though I'm a bit annoyed they skipped the Metamorphosis comparison. You know someone is messed up when they can honestly compare themselves to a Kafka character.

That's kind of unfair man.

If you've haven't seen all of it, then you cant really talk about his development in the anime.

I'm comparing the first few episodes to what they correspond to in the manga. I think that's fair enough. I actually watched the first episode before reading the manga, and liked the manga intro better than the anime. This is just one of the stories where I prefer the manga medium.
Plus I have slowly been watching more.

edit for corresponding edit:
I'm talking about how his initial reaction to his situation is portrayed, not his long term character development.

I want to hear your thoughts when I post my votes and see if you thought I would pick any of the choices I made. Right now, I am struggling to just pick 8 for each season.
