Well if you're going to write an elaborate post on why not to vote for Kaori, I think I'll make one for Shinichi. See, even with characters I like I can totally flip the script.

Kidding, of course. Probably.

I'm not going to do that. ....I will just make the case for Saber and be done with it.

You are a bro.

Sebastian (Black Butler) - Man of wealth and taste

Shinichi Izumi (Parasyte) - He's a dynamic character who is used to explore the concept of humanity. The show has done a good job of characterizing his change from an average guy to someone with an inhuman power. The story shows all the emotional, mental, physical, and societal stresses and conflicts such a change entails. Shinichi is a very well done and interesting character.

(if you don't like the Sebastian one, just ignore it)

Should totally have done it this way.

Sebastian (Black Butler) - One hell of a butler.

But that's the common one.
Plus I might have watched too much JoJo's and want to have a music allusion somewhere.

THIS IS MY VOTE

Ryukko Matoi (Kill la Kill): Maybe it's the fact that she directly calls out the fanservice so prevalent in magical girl series and then makes a complete joke of it, maybe it's because she doesn't fit the stereotypical profile for a magical girl series main protagonist by being boisterous and tomboyish instead of girly and frilly, or maybe it's that she successfully managed to wear so many hats in a way which didn't feel unbalanced or forced, but Ryuko Matoi left a strong impression with me. Tsugumi left a good impression on me as well, and is a character I enjoyed greatly. She just didn't leave as strong an impression. Sure, one might reply "Well, flip Ryuko's sex and she's just another shonen protagonist in the end", but you can't flip Ryuko's sex without missing the point of her character: she's a swipe at the prototypical magical girl precisely by having her act and think like a shonen hero instead of a shoujo one. This contrast is lost if you flip Ryuko's sex.

Rumi Yokoi (Tonari no Seki-kun): Ultimately this choice is based on my preference for comedy. It's not Chisaki's fault that she's in a drama (and therefore doesn't have as many comedic possibilities to seize upon), but that's how it is. Rumi seizes upon possibility and delivers laughs constantly, and so she seizes upon my vote as well.

Ritsu Kawai (Kawaisou): Ritsu, for what I've seen of her so far, follows a fairly typical path as far as main heroines in a comedy go. She reacts swiftly and violently when the main character is as much as perceived to have committed the slightest offense, she misunderstands his intentions constantly, and so on. However, I couldn't help but notice that the show she's in seems to be pointing out the character tropes everyone is fulfilling, to the point that the landlady of Ritsu's apartment complex is actually referred to as a "side character" in conversation. Then it hit me: this is a parody. Taken in this light Ritsu is sort of walking the line of Poe's Law, being so close to the thing she's parodying that it's often difficult to tell whether she's the real deal or a joke. And it is this which actually seizes the vote for Ritsu Kawai at the end of the day: I'm finding her more interesting to examine. Looking for nuanced hints that she's mocking the typical "violent girl" that has dominated male-oriented romance anime for decades now is amusing.

Nozomi Toujou (Love Live!): Nozomi's physical comedy is a noteworthy part of her character, but what really makes her interesting is that she's a counterbalance to keep Eli centered. In a show which is very much about the characters' relationships those characters who serve as glue (like Honoka, Nozomi, or Rin) are of vital importance, and Nozomi manages to fulfill her role as a glue character without becoming defined exclusively as such. She is quick witted, confident, intelligent, and patient, all characteristics which make her worthy of a vote.

Sebastian (Black Butler): This one is no contest. Sebastian is like a bittersweet candy: he's sophisticated, powerful, graceful, clever, dedicated, well-spoken, knowledgeable, and classy. That's the sweet the viewer gets to enjoy while being tempered by the bitter nagging at the back of their mind: this man is a devil. Sebastian's every act of courage, every word of concern he expresses for Ciel, the knowledge of fine teas, the calm composure, the acts of kindness, it could all be a mask he wears simply because his contract with Ciel compels him to. Sebastian keeps the viewer aware of this reality by provoking Ciel and challenging his resolve to continue in his quest from time to time, whether by directly questioning it or offering a pampering hand which isn't clearly sincerely offered. Compared to the symphony of contrast between amazement and fear, admiration and disgust, which Sebastian provides Nozaki has practically nothing to offer.

Illyasviel von Einzbern (Fate/Kaleid): Remember how I said that I liked Ryuko for veering away from the prototypical magical girl? Well, you can't hate a classic for staying classic either. Illyasviel successfully captures all the cuteness and saccharine goodness that makes classic magical girl shows great for injecting a little more idealism into your mind after a long stretch of cynicism and drama. Sure, she's nothing outstanding, but she's no less pleasant since she's cast from an enjoyable mold.

Saber (Fate/stay night): It's freaking Saber. Saber. Do I really have to spell out why she's so great? She has a personality which is just as charming as Kaori's could ever be, she's better designed, she's involved in all sorts of exciting scenarios, she's...she's Saber!

Shiro (no game no life) is better because she's cute yet impossibly bright. She can't lose.
Sora (no game no life) because he's a boss even without magic on his side (take this Tatsuya-kun !). He can't lose.
Akane Tsunemori (Psycho-Pass 1&2) is just the best ever, you can't cloud her, she moves you, she outwit you, she's so human.

Ryukko Matoi (Kill la Kill) - She is hot-blooded, and the very expression of youth.

Shinichi (Parasyte- The Maxim) Has been through a lot and his plot continues too thicken...

Momoka Sonokawa (Sabagebu) A ruthless and wicked person but she is funny as hell.

Hi, and thanks for participating in our tournament. I'm sorry to say this, but we noticed that you originally voted for only Ryuuko and Shinichi, and that Momoka was added later. As stated in the rules in the first post under "How to Vote," vote changes are not allowed in this tournament, so unfortunately we cannot count your vote for Momoka. Sorry, but this was specified ahead of time.

Hey Shadmad, thanks for voting!

But as per the rules for your votes to count you need to quote Ballot_Bot

STEP 1: Look through the battles presented above and select whom you’d like to advance. Provide a reason why you like the character you’ve selected more than their opponent.
OPTIONAL: Instead of providing a reason, describe your chosen character in three words. Could be a moniker, a phrase, you could even get fancy and make it an alliteration. Have fun with it.
STEP 2: When you’ve compiled your list of nominations quote Ballot_Bot and post your list in THIS THREAD. Please quote it normally Ballot_Bot is afraid of ghost.

Thanks for your participation.

Rumi Yokoi (Tonari no Seki-kun): Is it odd to say that I like her because I'm jealous of her? I would have loved to sit next to a kid like Seki-kun in school. At least I can live vicariously through Rumi.

Yato (Noragami): Five Yen God

Yuugo Hachiken (Silver Spoon): I could relate to Hachiken in his struggle to find what path he wants to take and how it seemed like everyone around him had already decided their futures. He's also just an all around great guy to his friends and fellow classmates.

Ritsu Kawai (Kawaisou): Who wouldn't love an adorably shy book worm?

Shiro (No Game No Life): Blank Never Loses

Sora (No Game No Life): Blank Never Loses - Can I put the same thing again? Well, too late. I did anyway. After all, both Sora and Shiro together are Blank.

Ayano Tateyama (MekakuCity): She was such a loving and caring older sister to her adoptive siblings whom most people ostracized and thought badly of because of their eye abilities.

Umetarou Nozaki (Nozaki-kun): It was quite hilarious watching a shoujo mangaka who excels at coming up with sweet, romantic situations continually fail to notice the affections of someone that he spends so much time with.

Makoto Tachibana (Free!): Swims Backstroke Beautifully

Hana Fountainstand (Hanayamata): Wanna Dance Yosakoi?

Aoi Miyamori (Shirobako): Miyamori is such a dedicated hard worker. Being able to deal with all the stress that comes with her job is no easy feat. And she loves donuts.

Shinichi Izumi (Parasyte): His transformation from a meek, normal high school student into the strong (and not just physically) protector of the people from an invasion of man eating parasites has been intriguing to watch so far. And I've enjoyed that it hasn't been all badassery and smooth sailing. Izumi has had his troubles realizing and trying to come to terms with how much he's changed since Migi's arrival and making sure he keeps his humanity intact and thinks differently from his emotionless and quite ruthless alien partner.

Kaori Miyazono (Shigatsu): Engaging Energetic Violinist

Akane Tsunemori (Psycho Pass): Akane is one of my absolute favorite female protagonists. She's strong, smart, and doesn't waver in her decisions nor does she let other's opinions bother her. I really liked the fact that she treats the Enforcers with the same trust and respect that she does anyone else, which is not something that a lot of Inspectors do or even agree with.
