Even though I know you've already made a great decision in voting for Rikka, I will write this (short) essay anyways using whatever knowledge I have at my disposal.

As well all very well know (assuming you've seen the anime), Rikka is very devoted for her Chuuni. While it seems she is only being childish at the time, we later find out that this is an important part of who she is and how she copes with a tragedy in her life. This is best shown towards the end of season 1 in a fantastic way, I would explain more but my memory is a bit rusty.

Anyways onto the 2014 stuff. We find that Rikka is clueless when it comes to relationships and the same can be said for Yuuta. We also learn that Rikka is full on back to her Cuuni ways with no end to it in sight. HOWEVER! Rikka starts showing some signs to her Chuuni lessening throughout the season. While she is usually in Chuuni mode when dealing with Yuuta, she starts showing her non-chuuni self more during some intimate moments with him (specifically the field trip arc). This is a major development for her since she does this of her own will and makes the advances while Yuuta doesn't do anything. These little events happen with a bit more frequency as time goes on, but this definitely helps goes to show how Rikka has developed as a character.

Here to give a brief reminder for everyone to vote for Satone Shichimiya (aka Sophia Ring S.P. Saturn VII)

As I said, I don't have much time to campaign in earnest today. But if you're on the fence about why you should vote for her, please quote me and i'll get back to you later today - I promise! In the meantime, consider voting for her on credit!

Ni ha ha ha ha!

THIS IS MY VOTE

1. Mako Mankanshoku (Kill la Kill): Mako is everything that a parody of a magical girl's best friend ought to be. She's boisterous, loud, excitable, constantly in awe of her friend's exploits as a magical girl, and an effective comedy relief through her occasional selfishness (see her in Osaka, for example). Meanwhile, she's devoted to her family and friends, has a warm and welcoming personality to offer for strangers, and generally lifts the mood of whatever room she's in. Kate doesn't even hold a candle to Mako's energy and enthusiasm.

2. Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill la Kill): Satsuki, like Ryuko, is able to wear many hats in a way which doesn't feel imbalanced or forced. She seems to naturally flow into her position as leader of Honnouji Academy, to wield her force of personality skillfully and precisely, and neatly transitions into her role in the second half of the series without seeming cheapened. Where Takanashi is pulling on a lot of moe strings seeming just for the sake of doing so every bit of Satsuki's design, personality, background, and actions seems to be chosen to assemble a more effective anti-heroine. She just seems like more thought was put into her.

3. Niko Yazawa (Love Live!): This matchup is interesting, because on the surface it appears to be asking whether frilly, delicate, and girly is better or worse than big, tough, and manly. Dig beneath Nico's surface, however, and she's no porcelain doll; Nico is actually a force to be reckoned with. Where Nico can pull off the harshness and toughness that Joe can whenever she is challenged or sees something/someone dear to her threatened I sincerely doubt that Joe could successfully pull of being a cutesy idol that lives and breathes to bring smiles to peoples' faces. I can't even imagine him in the costume in Nico's pic without exploding into laughter.

4. Maki Nishikino (Love Live!): Maki is kind of moody and slow to open up to others, true. But she has a good heart, obvious talent, a good head on her shoulders, and impressive drive. Tanaka, meanwhile, comes off to me as just being a punk whose antics are amusing to watch. In the choice between a strong, impressive idol who puts her all into everything she does or the dim punk it's funny to watch get himself in trouble I'll take the idol.

5. Steph Dola (No Game No Life): Steph is a character I've come to like a great deal. She has genuine love for her family and her people, plays fair and tells the truth in a world which constantly rewards lying and cheating, faces challenges even when she seems to have no hope of winning, and demonstrates superhuman endurance for having put up with Sora and Shiro's penalties for her having lost games to them. Yuuki is a sweet girl, but Steph has thoroughly impressed me.

6. Umi Sonoda (Love Live!): Shall I vote for the nice girl who is careful, practical, shy, and intelligent, or shall I vote for the creepy sadist who calls everything "gross" and enjoys harassing people? I'm going to go with the nice girl.

7. Shino Asada (Sword Art Online): Shino connected with me on a personal level, something that Killua hasn't done. That's not necessarily Killua's fault, but that is how it is.

I'm Back! And ready to count some ♥︎votes♥︎!

Toshinari Seki (Tonari no Seki-kun) - because beeeyootiful green eyes, and creative antics in the classroom are so much more appealing than a stupid pompadour in a restaurant called BooBies.

Mako Mankanshoku (Kill la Kill) - because she's an incredible friend who really rocks that fight club uniform

Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill la Kill) - because of that one tough toenail, and a whole lot more.

Hozuki (Hoozuki no Reitetsu) - because of that stern look and super-effective administrative skills

Ryuunosuke Tanaka (Haikyuu!) - because highschool volleyball players are more appealing to me than high school idols, and he's a super wonderful guy and teammate besides. Oh, that idol thing. I guess that's my next "unpopular opinion" for that other thread.

Yuuki Hase (Isshuukan Friends) - because I love his sincerity. (Next unpopular opinion: I didn't like NGNL)

Killua Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter) - because his character grew and we got to see his capacity for love. Yay most excellent big brother!

Sakura Chiyo (Nozaki-kun) - because she keeps trying even though she keeps kind of screwing up (which is certainly not entirely her fault)

Touka Kirishima (Tokyo Ghoul) - This is a tough choice, but truth is I liked Hisoka best in the early part of the series and he wasn't around long enough in 2014 for me to get all super excited about him again, so I'm going to choose Touka because her strength kept me fully engaged with the show.

Koyomi Araragi (Tsukimonogatari) - because he's a such a hot little perv completely at ease with his role who looks especially beautiful when his head tilts. Also, I love this Platinum gif

Shinobu Oshino (Tsukimonogatari) - loli, loli, loli, get your vampires here.

Son Hak (Akatsuki no Yona) - I like Yuuji's aloofness and competence a lot, but Hak is such a well-written shojo love-interest who is extremely competent, emotionally-invested, and believably human that I'm going to give my vote to him.
