the bullet train or super express - shinkansen

a limited express train (few stops) - tokkyu

an ordinary express (more stops) - kyuko

There are no equivalent words in Japanese for english articles "the", "a", "an", or "some". There is no difference in Japanese between a singular noun and a plural noun. For example , "a ticket", "the ticket", "the tickets" and "some tickets" all translate into "kippu".

The particle "no" indicates possession. For example, "densha no eki" (train station) literally means "train's station". Likewise "watashi no kuruma" means "my car" and "Michael no kippu" means "Michael ticket".

this is a good idea. i hope more lessons will be added. By the way why is it "cute" when little children add Desu to the end of "EVERYTHING" they say?

lol what do u mean by cute? lol see my other post here if you want to know about desu lol. anything feel free to ask =p

you dont know what i mean? how about this then.... why do little children add desu to the end of everything they say? what does it mean when they do it? do adults use this word too? is it different when adults use it?

lol im not sure about children and desu dont means cute.

Desu
Nouns used with Desu work as predicates,
Desu indicates judgement or assertion.
Desu also conveys that the speaker is being polite towards the listener.

hmm..

for instance the little witch(Yukari-chan) from Rosario + Vampire. she uses desu at the end of almost every sentence.
another example would be the little girl(Rika-chan) from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni... she uses Nipu or Nipa at the end of hers.

however i have found that desu is the most common. Just thought someone would know why. i'll try to find more instances if you like.

Maybe they are being polite with every sentence.
