Episode 12 released!
http://gamersmustdie.com/2016/03/omd-ep12-its-actually-pretty-good/

Today we start things off with news, where we cover the upcoming partnership between Netflix and Production I.G on a new anime series, "Perfect Bones." Continuing with further Production I.G news, we also discuss their upcoming reboot of "FLCL," and Alex and Jared have a few reservations regarding this development.

From there we move straight into our thoughts on airing series. This leads to a good discussion about serial killer identity theories on Alex and Jared's favorite anime this season, "Erased." We also briefly discuss our thoughts on the newest episodes of "Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash." Jared then dives into his reasons for why he dropped Prince of Stride, as well as his hatred for Fujoshi's and Fujoshi-fare anime in general.

For today's series reviews, Alex gives her thoughts on the reboot of "Osomatsu-san" and how it makes hilarious jokes out of its attempts to appeal to a more modern audience. And Jared struggles through trying to summarize the absurd premise for "The World God Only Knows" which he had recently watched the first season of.

We close the podcast with Alex and Jared briefly discussing their favorite manga of all time! For Alex it's "Mushi-Shi." And Jared just can't get enough of the awkwardly foul mouthed Tomoko from "Watamote!"

Episode 13 released!
http://gamersmustdie.com/2016/04/omd-ep13-dont-ever-call-moe-trash/

Welcome back to another episode of Otakus Must Die! For today's episode we decide to shuffle around the usual formula a bit and begin the show with our series rundown on the Spring anime season. It lasts for about 2/3rds of the episode, (so if you would rather skip ahead you can begin at the 38 minute mark). First impressions end up being quite positive, as both Alex and Jared are fairly impressed with the line up. Particularly Jared, who after a disastrously moe-light Winter finally has a few decent looking Cute Girls Doing Cute Things series to sink his teeth into!

From there we move to news, where we cover the recent teaser that was made for a Planetarian anime project, and then get excited at the news that final negotiations are occuring for Netflix to produce an American Death Note. And finally, we cover the news that the new Hunter x Hunter dub will have its American premiere on April 16th on Toonami.

Next up, we discuss our final thoughts on the Winter season. Jared and Alex agree that Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash as well as Erased are definitely the season favorites. Alex also mentions how much she ended up enjoying Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu for both its top tier art and excellent story telling.

Episode 14 released!
https://soundcloud.com/otakusmustdie/episode-14-just-a-ton-of-porn

Welcome to another episode of Otakus Must Die! Todays episode begins with the news that Alex has officially been accepted to study abroad in Japan starting in the Fall. Following that we cover the recent teaser that there may be some exciting news on the Haruhi Suzuamiya front in the next year, much to Jared's great excitement. The final news piece concerns the recent controversy over the casting of Scarlett Johansson as Motoko in the Ghost in the Shell movie adaptation. Sparks fly, as the subject of whether anime characters are made to look like white people or not gets discussed...at great length.

Next up, Alex and Jared dive straight in to their first impressions of the season so far. Jared spends some time covering basically every single moe series in the line-up, and Alex discusses her love of Mayoiga and Boku no Hero Academia. Both however, gush quite a bit over their shared love of "Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto!"

The team ends the episode with Alex giving another Japanese lesson. Todays episode covers how to say "Hello, how are you?" in Japanese.

I've been meaning to post about the state of the podcast for the better part of a year now. So here it is!

We began a bit of a hiatus last summer because Alex was leaving the country to study abroad. And since she's been back in the later fall, that hiatus has just kind of continued since she and Ben have been busy with other things.

I would love to continue making episodes again in the future, but I have some doubts that it will happen with my current co-hosts. Ben of course doesn't particularly like or care about anime (which is sort of his schtick throughout the show as the "non fan" perspective- but I feel that has been a bit played out at this point after 14 episodes of it), and Alex is just too busy now between finishing school and job hunting. That just leaves me. And I'm just not sure if I can carry a show by myself. At least not one that's worth listening to.

I've been fairly discouraged about all of this, because I felt like we had gotten a good rapport down and were producing a show that was appealing a bit more towards the average anime fan, that scewed a little bit less cringey/nerdy (yet still super fucking nerdy) than some of the other shows out there. Basically I was feeling like we had found a good niche.

Anyways, for those who were following us I feel like you deserve to know where my head's at with everything. I'm not going to say the show is fully dead yet though! So don't be surprised if further developments occur in the future. But for the meantime the hiatus will be continuing for at least another few months while I consider options.

I'm not quite ready for this thread to end up in a year end clean up, nor am I still willing to say that I've fully thrown in the towel on future podcasting. So I'm somewhat shamelessly bumping it.

But there is some minor news, which is that I recently threw all of the episodes up on my youtube channel. The playlist can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_UyJd2Ba1UD794qbxfTWcZrn8pmeuQIs

I've been using that channel as an outlet for some solo projects, and to practice getting better at doing Lets Plays and stuff.

I think that 2018 will end up being a make it or break it year on deciding whether I want to get back into podcasting again or not. My local co hosts aren't interested any longer, so I will probably end up doing remote podcasts over skype or discord with CR friends. But I'm not sure if that dip in audio quality is something that I will be willing to do. We'll just have to see what happens. But in the meantime feel free to check out some of my crappy Lets Play series if you feel like you've been missing the sound of my voice. Not that I imagine anyone has. But the option is always out there.

It's a shame you stopped doing these, it's pretty cool when people start doing podcasts about a topic they like. Hope things are going well nonetheless!

There are worse things than Otaku's. For example there are many Filipino users on here who just make up myths that their favourite actors are part Filipino.

This appears to be something they do so they can feel they relate to the actor, and even if the actor responds to this and says they aren't part Filipino, the Filipino users on here just claim they are lying.

Basically it's a conspiracy theory claiming "secret ancestry" and they can pretty much just claim any actor they like is part Filipino and lies about it.

This isn't just Filipino's who do this, some white people also do this as well and make up conspiracy theories to try to enjoy their favourite actor more in telling themselves they are secretly half western etc.

This is also done sometimes by Chinese users as well.

Most fans of Japan aren't like this, but some fans of Japanese things will instead try to relate and take credit by telling themselves these conspiracy theories that they are secretly Filipino or western or Chinese etc. And even if their parents are known, the conspiracy theorist will then just claim they are fake parents etc, there is no end to their attempt at appropriating their favourite actors and idols from Japan.

One example is Mokomichi Hayami, after Fili's fell in love with him they claimed he is half Filipino. Then his wiki and IMDB was edited to claim this, without any valid source.

Eventually this myth became so prevalent on the western side of the internet that Mokomichi himself found out about it and he himself said he doesn't know where it came from and that he isn't half Filipino. But predictably the Filipino fans on here and other sites just called him a liar.

Apparently being a bit tanned means he has to be a Filipino according to them, yet literally hordes of Japanese people are tanned as hell. It's not even an abnormal thing there, in fact Japanese who are pale are only pale by staying out of the sun. Nearly all Japanese turn very tanned if they spend time in the sun. There are other photo's of Mokomichi where he isn't even that tanned when he was younger, so either he spends more time in the sun or he even uses tanning beds. None of that makes him part Filipino.

What the Filipino's are behaving like are the Afrocentrists in fact, this behaviour is seen from people who are insecure about their own people. They instead have to create conspiracy theories and try to claim other people as their own.

Like literally Fili users on here claim a Japanese actor has to be half Fili even if he is a bit tall.

Which also makes absolutely zero sense, if Filipino's have convinced themselves that the height of Filipino's is taller than Japan. They are now full blown insane.

Japanese male average height is 5'7.5''.
Filipino male average height is 5'4.4".

Filipino men are the second shortest in all of south east Asia (south east Asians are shorter than east Asians).
I guess this is another fact Fili's deny.

Fili's aren't too bright.

Fili's have nothing to be proud of personally, so they have to tell themselves all the people in Japan they look up to are half Japanese.
Then they have to form this idea in their head at the same time that the shortest Japanese they can find that look the least masculine must be the "pure" Japanese.

You know, because being tall and masculine are totally Fili traits. Geez I guess Toshiro Mifune was 200% Filipino, not surprising that many Fili's on here even claim his as Filipino and even claim the Jomon man was secretly Filipino.

It's so ridiculous.
A bunch of short flat faced Fili's trying to take credit for the Japanese people and their traits.
Must be sad to be that insecure that you have to live in self lunacy like that and you have nothing of your own race that you can feel proud of.

Look at even Duterte, short and very dark with a huge flat nose. That's the Fili trait, Shinzo Abe is much taller with a narrower nose. This is common among Japanese, sorry you Fili crybabies.
Fili's can barely even grow facial hair, yet most Japanese men can thanks to Jomon DNA.

Filipino's are probably the most pathetic people out of all of Asia. The second shortest and the least attractive with wide noses and Negrito DNA. Having to adore Japanese and Chinese actors and tell themselves they are Filipino's secretly.
