I didn't realize Akane and Kaede were tied when I casted my vote. Otherwise, I would have abstained and let it go towards a run-off. Sorry!

I'm kind of curious though, how come you didn't vote for Sakuta?

Hestia is happy, because her movie is out, and she gets to come visit us for an extended amount of time starting this summer season

DId people really think that SSSS.Gridman was that good? When I saw it, I thought it was okay. I liked the idea behind it, but none of the characters really resonated with me, especially not Akane.

I think it had one big positive and one big negative.

As for why Akane has made it this far, besides the above she's super moe. Like POWER LEVEL OVER 9000 moe.

And she's a doubly rare type, yandere moe usually has very crude "I'MA GOING TO BEAT YOU WITH A STICK CAUSE I'M JUST THAT CRAZY!" contours but Akane has a lot of delicate detailing in her characterization and vulnerabilities.

Ah out in theaters, still a couple months to wait then but at least it's on the way.

(about Gridman)

I do like most of your analysis though.

That's really neat to see. I don't know anything about Gridman or other tokusatsu series, just what I've seen in SSSS; I didn't know there was that much interplay between it and the rest of the franchise. I did gather that

Tangentially, it was also neat being introduced to tokusatsu in general for the first time with SSSS and realizing its connection with Evangelion though. It's not an influence on Anno's work I'd known about before but it fits.

Well I appreciate the chance to type it out, I've been chewing on it for a while.

Edit: I haven't watched enough 2018 anime, I've only rated one below a 5 and it's messing with my bell curve.

I think SSSS.Gridman was worth watching for Akane alone. It's her story after all. The other characters just exist Akane's sake.

Speaking of Akane, can't wait to see her lose to All for One tonight...

I read through it, but again it doesn't resonate with me. I'm a very "no use crying over spilt milk" type of guy, and from your explanation she's a very wallow in self-pity type of girl. Oil and water. So any of her problems flew right over my head.

I mean I could probably feel sympathy if she was being tormented by outside forces, but she's essentially just tormenting herself. I've kind of developed an apathy to those types of people irl. I guess I probably do fit into Slytherin.

I did like a few things about the show though. As far as characters go, I liked Anti and the blonde loli a lot.

Anti had a lot of determination and a lot of honor. No matter how many times he got knocked down, he got up again. Gridknight was also like 10x cooler than Gridman. Hands down my favorite k̶a̶i̶j̶u̶ hero.

Well, time to post a real lady to counteract all these traps, poisoning our perfect thread.
