To think an mmo from 15 years ago would be getting this much attention.

I'd really like to have a higher level character, just to casually grind on and participate in the economy as an outdoorsy gatherer/crafter, but I don't imagine it happening even with a quest helper addon. I nabbed so many rare spawn mounts in retail the first day while everybody was queuing for classic though, happily rocking my new pink hippogryph.

There are a bunch of old dungeons I'd like to see again like Sunken Temple, makes me sad how they got so heartlessly gutted in Cataclysm. But I'll probably satisfy that itch vicariously through streamers. I thought about leveling a holy pally specifically to heal the old 40-60 dungeons but it's not the type of thing I'd actually follow through with.

Will be neat to see the raid streams when they start though. Especially Naxx40 down the road.

For the small part of our community that may perhaps be interested in the matter, I offer a video of some concern to me. ProJared, a mid-level "Let's Play" YouTuber and YouTube reviewer of equally modest fame, has recently undergone a complex and difficult scandal that he now explains in full in the video linked below. Please consider what he has to say if you have any interest. He was accused of truly terrible things and has provided sufficient evidence here, in my mind at least, to earn a second consideration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBywRBbDUjA

For those who want full context for this matter, a subreddit has composed a megathread to clarify the timeline in full, linked below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ProJared2/comments/cflqzf/infoupdates_megathread/

I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing (I haven't for the years you've all known me), so please understand that this is purely borne of an honest desire for an honest hearing from a man I sincerely believe has been unjustly struck out against by cancel culture. I don't know why this particular instance stands out above the rest, but for whatever reason I feel I need to at least see how the people I feel closest kinship with feel about this.

No pressure, brothers, sisters, and others. If you have no interest, or even if you feel the above provides no vindication, just know it's good to see you all again and I want to be on more in the coming days to reconnect. I've missed you all, and I am deeply sorry for my prolonged absences. Frankly, I'm divided between three laboratory projects and a course technician position just to make the rent, so it's all I can do to lay down and listen to entertaining media to keep myself sane lately. I miss you all terribly, and I hope that recent developments will allow me to be on more often for a bit. Just did perfusions on a lot of rats, so my maintenance time should go way down.

Again, love you all, and miss you all. See you again soon.

Please tell me you get to wear tons of lab coats, at least. Take it as easy as you can Oni.

I think I remember the Jared thing blowing up, I don't know much about it though. Seemed like a private life issue between them, just complicated by the fact that they were all streamers/youtubers with a public presence.

So I didn't pay a whole lot of attention and just hoped they all got on ok as people.

I never much liked Jared even before the scandal. The only reason I even knew about it was because Holly or whatever was married to RubberRoss and I like Ross. I suppose it’s a mean thing to say, but good for him that he’s fighting back, but I don’t really care.

I have to wear a lab coat per safety regs and (more importantly) to keep my clothes from getting all bloody and sticky, but yeah, I wear them a lot. They're provided on communal stands, and you can tell which is mine from the size, the pen marks, and the blood stains.

I'd just rather I got to handle all the rats I was dealing with for a week or two. Otherwise, gathering body weights is a constant trial. They flee, spring, and try to bite a lot. Still, I recommend rats over mice if you can. Mice are bastards, and they stink to the point you'll question your life choices if you end up working with them.

That's how Jared wanted to keep it, but unfortunately that's not how it went and a few fame seekers took an opportunity to dig in for Patreon bucks. Sadly, he at least didn't get on okay, though things seem to be on an upturn. I honestly don't know why this resonated with me as much as it did. My mother built into me a sense of striking out against things I knew were wrong, and this sure looks wrong to me, so maybe that's it. I had that mom who was deeply involved in the parent groups and who combed over the budgets for my primary school. She even caught an embezzler, that's how she was. So I guess I'm just my mother's daughter.

Said no pressure, meant no pressure. If you don't care, that's okay by me. Good to see you again, xxJing. Missed you, buddy. Any JRPGs you recommend as absolute must-haves? I'm in the market to buy.

ProJared

I had no idea who ProJared was before this drama started and I honestly don't care much about him, but I do feel bad seeing something like this happen. When I first heard about what was going on with him cheating and sending nudes to minors, I thought that was pretty bad but was kinda skeptical since there wasn't any proof. I was also wondering why the cheating part was made public since that seemed like something that should've stayed private, so I found Heidi's motives questionable. Then it turns out the two of them were actually fine with having multiple partners and this was the kind of relationship they agreed to. It was pretty clear by that point that Heidi was misrepresenting what happened. I figured that both parties here messed up and that would be the end of it. But now it seems that Heidi was pretty manipulative in their relationship that he wanted to get out of. Also, the allegations of sending nudes to minors was BS as well, with one of the boys admitting to being pretty delusional at the time he said this took place and the other lying to Jared about his age and editing their texts to make it look like Jared never asked for his age.

It sucks that there are people out there who are willing to lie to ruin someone's life. Don't really care what happens next, but it's good Jared managed to clear things up.

- Just the quick thoughts of someone without much of an opinion on ProJared or knowledge of him outside of this situation.

A group of vanilla private server players have leveled up and killed Rag already.

I'm not surprised MC wasn't super difficult but I am surprised they leveled/geared and grinded the rep so quick.

Somali to Mori no Kami-sama is such a good looking manga. Saw it was getting an anime and I'd never heard of it so I looked it up. Definitely seems like the type where the anime won't be able to live up to the art at all.

Agree. I read a few chapters when the anime was announced and that was the first thing I thought. It could still end up being a good looking series though. They seem to be using very bright colors for the anime, which could work in their favor (or backfire completely when done wrong).

Dr. Stone is a cool anime and I'm enjoying watching it, but honestly its premise is pretty horrifying. Petrification generally has the blow softened a bit by leaving the victim unconscious until they're restored, but in this case everyone's still aware while being frozen in place. Assuming our heroes manage to succeed and restore the world's population to their previous state there's going to be a huge spike in demand for mental health services.

I also tried out Magic Sempai, and though it's fun in its own right I feel like a quasi-ecchi comedy about a female illusionist who keeps getting herself in a bind with her tricks could've used a little more variety in its settings and illusions. I think it's the core setting that threw cold water on things, personally. Because it's set in a secondary school there were necessarily limitations on what the characters could do and where they could go that would've been removed if they'd been semi-professionals trying to start out on the performance circuit instead.

Finally, We Never Learn is fun, charming, and I am loving it.

Yeah, that seems to be the general feeling. It's not surprising most people don't have a strong interest in the subject considering Jared's following is comparatively small when put up against much bigger fish like Jacksepticeye and Markiplier, but even if people aren't interested in his show or his personal life I think we can all at least take a lesson from this mess. It's crucial to try to gather all the necessary facts before judging a situation, and when one party remains silent during a complex matter with serious potential legal ramifications that silence could indicate ongoing consultations with counsel rather than a tacit admission of guilt.

I now have a box and inside is an assortment of modestly conflicting feelings.

Also the Beatrice-Raws version is solid. Also these movies are so long, geez.

Not to be the "That broke my immersion" guy, but 3700 years really broke my immersion.

After that it was like ok, just here for the gimmick. Have at thee.

Yeah, I mean, even a highly-disciplined monk who's honed their mind with meditation for decades would probably go mad from the sensory deprivation and discomfort well before the first month of having been turned to stone had passed. After 3700 years our heroes should've been stark raving mad and hatched in a screaming fit.

Kind of like the Johnny Depp thing.

I'm not actually familiar with that one.
