It's a bit weird to go back to the 90s and hear Shinji Ikari's VA voice a Leiji Matsumoto MC in the Harlock universe.

Edit: And the villain is Balalaika's VA from Black Lagoon; who has been voice acting in anime since the 70s, wow.

Edit: The second Anitore! XX special is a ~4 minute hold squat. How many otaku did this video murder.

Ah, nice. I'm in the Nagoya area. So far, I've picked up the Luminous Arc Vita game, Omega Labyrinth Z for Vita (cause screw you, Sony), the Re:Zero VN for Vita, and the Oreimo PSP VN special edition, game-wise. Haven't bought any anime, but do have the Fate Prisma Phantasm OVA LE all paid off at Animate for that bonus wallscroll of Illya and Chloe in bikinis

Gotten a few light novels (though all above my paygrade, atm), maybe a dozen manga (such as the first volume of Takagi-san, Seitokai Yakuindomo, Konohana Kitan, Dumbbell, Wataten, and Senko-san, as well as volume 7 of Val x Love since that's where I left off in America, and the first 2 volumes of Shouji Satou's new manga Howling Moon), and lots of doujins and h-tanks Gotta pay em back for all that pirating over the years

I did get a Kirino maid figure secondhand for like, 400yen, though, great deal. Buying a Mikan one off a classmate for 1200 yen too. Then I've gotten other random small merch, like my change pouch is Rem, I won an Emilia and Rem pocketwatch from a UFO Catcher, etc. OH, duh, using it now, got a Rem light-up gaming mouse with mousepad from a UFO Catcher too, cost about 2000-2500 yen. Gotta rein it in now though since I need to get a Switch soon as well as the Danmachi game for it with Animate's special edition that has a Hestia bodypillow case and Hestia blanket for like, 22000 yen

Nice! I originally planned on getting some games and anime while I was there, but decided against it since there weren't any great limited editions I wanted and I mostly do digitals these days anyway. It's also pretty expensive. Manga, however, I should have bought a lot more of since you can get it so cheap. I guess I'll bring that second suitcase next time

I'll be visiting Nagoya next October, but only for a day, so I won't have much time to check out the sights. How do you like the city?

Edit: I haven't gotten around to watching the first episode of Beastars, but I just saw the OP and damn, that definitely got me intrigued.

I'd actually have gotten more stuff by now, but money... yeah...

And nice! I'm only here until about mid-May. I still haven't seen tons, as my host family's home is in a suburb city called Nagakute, so it's about 60-90 minutes train ride into the main "recreational" areas of the city. Sakae is kinda the big normie entertainment area, Oosu is a huge shopping arcade that takes up multiple blocks and is much more geek-friendly (tapestry shops, used game shops including literal NES consoles for sale, a big arcade, Mandarake...). However, otaku-area is Nagoya Station, as about 2-3 blocks from there is Toranoana, Melonbooks, and Animate. However, the city is really quiet despite being a huge city, way different from big cities in America.

I did see what looked like a decent Sakura figure at a Hard-Off for like, 1500 yen or so.

Drawback is we have to wait for fansubs because Netflix, so there isn't a predictable time to watch new episodes yet.

The first episode is out there though.

The thing is that I didn't want to go for a figure I wasn't really into. I saw this one

for about 1/3 of the price it goes for online and while I do like it, I also already own a wall scroll with the same Sakura on it, so I decided not to buy it. But yeah, if you see a figure of HF movie Sakura, be sure to let me know.

And cool, sounds like you're having fun. I will probably not do too much shopping in Nagoya since I don't want to travel with too much stuff and I'll be staying in Tokyo for two nights before flying out anyway, so that's most likely where the remainder of my travel budget will go. I'll definitely check out the area around Nagoya Station though. I'll be travelling by train, so I might as well swing by since it sounds like good fun.
Yeah, it's weird how quiet the big cities are when you get away from the main areas. Walking to and from the bath house in Kyoto felt more like being in a small town than a city with a population of over a million. I like it that way though.

Also good on you for getting out of Japan before summer, because August was quite literally hell

It's weird how something just being cel animated can heighten my attachment to it. The look is so distinctive.

Edit:

Radical Dreamer's AMV channel is a sub that just keeps on giving. Eternal Overload (Frost Moon [email protected]).

Edit:

The last episode of Kaguya-sama S1 was really good.

I'm honestly not sure how we still have forums at all considering how much they've obviously wanted to kill them for so long. It's like there's some impassioned employee living out in the server room like it's a post-apocalypse bunker, not letting anyone come in to kill the power and only sneaking out at night to buy more ramen at the corner mart.

wow I guess this will soon be the end then, only a few of what was many left anyway.

I miss that guy who hated lolis with a passion, he was such a great troll. I forgot his name though it’s been so long. Aiden hated him. Still I enjoy people who introduce some chaos.
