I wonder how early I'd have to be to the theater tomorrow to get a moderately ok seat at Star Wars.

I dunno but it seems to me like not many people are really all that hyped after the Last Jedi.

I dropped it with The Force Awakens though. The series took a completely different direction than I’m interested in. At least the video games are still good though, had a lot of fun with Jedi Fallen Order.

8 tried to be different, but was ultimately uninteresting, with an objectively pointless side character taking one of the main characters on a 100% pointless side quest that contributed literally nothing to the story. At least, that's my biggest gripe with 8. There's also stupidity that could easily be avoided with the slightest bit of communication, which is another major pet peeve of mine.

I would have also been done at 7, but I went to see 8 with my brother, so...

I’ll be honest I like the prequels. I liked them for a long time because they expand on the Star Wars universe and they are responsible for the birth of the old republic storyline which I like even more than episodes 4-6.

Though in general I prefer stories with wider focuses. It’s why I like Log Horizon which has like tons of characters and different storylines happening simultaneously but I don’t like SAO that much because it is a very simple singular storyline where Kirito follows a straight line from point A to point B. It feels to me like a larger story that was abridged to just include the parts with Kirito in them.

Both the knights of the old republic games and SWTOR the MMORPG have so much world building in them that makes the Star Wars Universe seem huge and alive and interesting even if there wasn’t a hero. I felt like episode 7 especially failed to give me that experience.

I must see it, just to sate my own curiosity. That's also why I've watched like 95% of the 90s anime I have.

It's a movie where no one else will be able to tell me what I think of it, and I'm just curious enough to get off my ass and find out for myself, but probably not day one, maybe a weekend daytime screening with less hyped fans.

And I went back to watch 7 so I could watch 8. Hamill back as Luke got me to catch up, I haven't seen R1 or Solo. I don't think 8 was anything special besides upending the whole moral fabric of the Star Wars universe cause why not.

I don't think it's something to go out of the way to watch really except for completeness' sake.

I'm liking Yakuza Reincarnation. There are some great in-your-face panels.

I haven’t watched it and don’t plan to, but it seems like Star Wars did not get a good reaction.

On the other side of the spectrum there’s Jedi Fallen Order which gets super high praise. I played through it a few weeks ago and it is a great game. Even the story was really good, though it was kind of hindered by the fact that it couldn’t do anything huge given the movies.

I'm about to go see it, my sleep schedule's messed so I mostly slept through the last two days. But since it's Saturday (and Star Wars) they have a showing today that's before 9am, so I'll go grab that one and then sleep when I get back.

Or I'll sleep there if it's boring enough. But I want to get past having to dodge spoilers.

I think my Rise of Skywalker review is "You could have asked for more but I expected less."

It takes absolute galaxy-brain levels of suspension of disbelief to get through it all, it feels like almost a full trilogy happening in fast-forward without the time to set anything up properly or with any credulity. But in the end I guess it's a faint glimmer of what could have been, if the new trilogy had had any kind of overarching plan.

Did it have cool light saber duels with Duel of The Fates playing in the background?
