hip-hop is NOT DEAD. they are on the DL 'til someone can bring it back. The reason hip-hop ain't doin so well right now is when it was popular, blacks were writing lyrics based on the struggle and the hard times they were going through. Now all artists can rap about is doin drugs and chillin with their Gs while smackin some random girls ass. But artists like Kanye, Common, Wyclef, n Nas are writing legit stuff about life in general n workin hard to achieve what you want. They are the ones who'll bring hip-hop back to stardom. So no. Hip-hop ain't dead

you forgot to add lupe fesico, papoose, siagon these are like the few rapper i acutally respect and listen to.

Yea, I don't think it's dead yet, but then again I have almost no way to gauge as I never watch tv or listen to the radio. But gosh, I am glad to hear that it's losing popularity as it really really sucks.

Eminem left? are you for real?

Background
Eminem was known to be in the studio with T.I. and produced three tracks, two of which were produced for T.I.'s album, T.I. vs. T.I.P., and one for Eminem's album.[1]

On May 24, 2007, Aftermath Entertainment and Shady Records labelmate 50 Cent indicated that Eminem is preparing a new solo album, though he did not give an official release date[2]. 50 Cent also confirmed he will be featured in the album; in fact, during an interview with the UK magazine Loaded, he said that he has "laid down a track" with Eminem for Mathers' new LP [3]. Ca$his, another Shady Records labelmate, also attested to the new album, referring to it as "King Mathers". He said that it would be released in 2007, and that he would also be featured on the album.[4]

On August 1, 2007, Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, said that there is no album scheduled for a 2007 release, and claimed that the KingMathers.com website is "bogus". Despite this, he did not deny an album in the works.[5]

In an interview with HipHopDX.com, Stat Quo also confirmed that a new Eminem album will be released.[6]

On September 12, 2007, Eminem called in to the New York City based radio station Hot 97 to congratulate 50 Cent on Curtis, released the day before. Eminem stated that right now he is in "limbo" and that he does not know if and when he will release his next album.[7][8][9]

During a September interview with Los Angeles Times, Dr. Dre revealed that he will spend the next two months working on Eminem's new album.[10]

In a recent interview, D12 member Bizarre stated that the new D12 album is "on hold", because Interscope wants Eminem to release his album first.[11] He also said that Eminem is not involved with his new album, Blue Cheese 'n' Coney Island, because "he's busy doing his thing".[12]

mainstream is. i wouldn't even call new "hip hop" hip hop. it's more like dance music, just made to sound good and catchy. i personally don't care cause it means it'll be easier to make millions off of one catchy hit lol.
