To be fair, One Punch Man is available on Animax.

Granted, many UK anime fans (myself included) barely count that as being an improvement over not being licensed at all but it does have a legal option over here.

Unlike Digimon Tri.

One-Punch Man is also on Daisuki, so you don't even need to use the godforsaken Animax if you don't want to...

To be honest, I rate Daisuki even lower than Animax.

Yes, their site looks a whole lot more professional but their library is even smaller and the player...

They don't have any TV-connected apps and I have never managed to get more than a few minutes into an episode on their iOS app. A few seconds if I try to use AirPlay to my AppleTV.

Animax is many (bad) things but the one time I did try using them in earnest, I was able to watch an entire episode, start to finish, with no problems.

There's a reason that I class Crunchyroll as the only real viable service available to me here.
The other alternatives all have something that makes their usability lower than Kodi+fansubs. And that's a shame.

As a UK fan, it's a giant shame, I must say. Fingers crossed you can acquire UK rights sometime.

Of course it's not in the UK you'd think as they get bigger Crunchyroll would get better but they're just getting worst. if they're asking more money just pay it! UK audiences pay you good money use it! I don't believe anyone in the UK already has the rights in the UK infact i know they absolutely do not

Apart from potentially Saban but Saban also has the rights in the US.

There is no excuse for this not being available in the UK.

Haha yeah right they won't Crunchyroll don't even try for UK rights if they did they'd have more. It's Toei these rights both this i assume and One Piece (MANGA UK who have the distribution rights comfirmed along time ago they did not have the streaming rights to One Piece but if they did they'd definitely consider working with CR)

Basically from what i can tell Toei charge a fortune for streaming rights in the US and UK, CR are willing to pay that for there US audience cause it's there biggest but they refuse to pay it for the UK,

Because to them it's okay to screw over the UK audience. They're really getting on my last nerve they've been genuinely awful this year with UK rights might be about time to cancel my subscription...

It's all on Toei. in this case, anyway.

It seems that different arms of Toei handle American and European licensing. So of the European arm really don't want it streamed in the UK, or want to charge an unfeasible amount for it, they can. Unfortunately. And there's nothing CR can do about it, also unfortunately.

The real ballache with licensing is that it is not as straightforward as it should be. Different parts of a production committee may have the controlling rights for different regions. How different shows and different companies treat different regions can differ from case to case. Or some companies have home+streaming rights and sublicense the streaming to VOD services. And just because one region has rights held by a company that likes to work with Crunchyroll doesn't stop a different region's rights being held by a company who are in competition.

This doesn't mean I don't think that Crunchyroll shouldn't be trying (well, succeeding) a damn sight harder than they do.
What it does mean, though, is that ultimately the decision isn't up to them. And if Japanese companies want to give American rights to companies who work with CR and European/UK rights to companies that don't, or don't want to bother with our region at all, there's not a bloody thing CR can do about it.

Licensing's all BS, but it's legal BS. And CR, as a legal service, have to play by the rules.

I suspect most people do. It's just that VPNs are technically against the terms or service and openly discussing fansub and torrent sites is a good way to get a post modded to hell and back.

Besides, even for those people who hypothetically use such services, I'm sure most of them would much prefer not to have to faff around with them and just have everything available officially on CR.

Well I certainly appreciate you guys for clearing all of that up, I did assume that it wasn't technically on CR's side, although there was a bit of doubht, albeit for childish reasons (Yes, I was thinking more on the lines of "More of an American audience, so don't bother with UK").

But yes, certainly insightful what you guys have posted, hope more of us British fans who rage read these posts

It's been six years since that summer adventure when Taichi “Tai” Yagami and the rest of the DigiDestined crossed over to the Digital World. And nearly three years have passed since the final battle between Hikari Yagami's group and BelialVamdemon. As the peaceful days passed by, at some point the gate to the Digital World closed. Not even the DigiDestined know what caused this, and time alone continues to pass.

On one such day, a Kuwagamon suddenly appears in Odaiba. Its rampage leaves the town in ruins, and the people there in turmoil. Taichi happens to catch sight of the Kuwagamon, and he chases after it all by himself in an effort to halt its rampage. But there's nothing he can do against a Kuwagamon.

"It's no use... I can't do anything about this alone..."

Just as the Kuwagamon roars and attacks Taichi, his Digivice begins to emit a bright light…

"Taichi, look how big you've grown!"

With the sound of that nostalgic voice, the story once again begins to move in a big way.

Once again,
the adventure evolves

The first four episodes of Digimon Adventure Tri will be available starting 7:00am PST on Friday, November 20th in the following regions: United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.

The next chapter of Digimon Adventure Tri will be coming next year in March 2016, with more information to come ~

Digimon means SO MUCH to us and we’re thrilled that we’re able to share it with all of you. Please enjoy ~ !!!

As amazing as this is... I thought tri was a movie? So why the 4 episodes, unless you mean the movie will be split into separate episodes?

Either way, hype!
