2015 Show Spotlight

Rolling☆Girls

Synopsis (Taken from MAL)

Ten years before the start of Rolling☆Girls, a massive battle called the Great Tokyo War devastated Japan. Over the course of the war, most of Japan's political and economic leaders vanished, leaving a vacuum of power in their tracks. To restructure the country, Japan was divided into ten territories that soon became independent prefectures, with each vying to conquer its neighbors to become the sole ruler of what was once Japan. Many of the heroes from the Great Tokyo War have taken on leadership roles in the different nations; these individuals are now known as Mosas and lead groups of supports called Mobs.

A young Mob named Nozomi Moritomo is instructed by her Mosa to go on a journey with three of her friends in order to grow stronger and observe the other prefectures. Along the way, these four girls search for moonlight stones, heart-shaped jewels said to give their wearers great power... but will the power of the moonlight stones bring about an era of peace, or will they send the nations plummeting into another abyss of devastation?

You can watch the entire season on Funimstion here!

Voter Spotlight

"I am just so blown away by this series it's hard for me to put it into words, but as far as this season goes, this is hands down, my anime of the season, and probably one of the most enjoyable experiences to come out of anime, since NGNL."

- remassie

What is this?

For this year's tourney I decided to add a 2015 Show Spotlight on the front page of the thread. Throughout the tourney I'll have different shows here that I think deserve a little more attention. I won't solely put shows I like on here, I'll also look through the thread and see what shows other people are talking about. Another thing, I will also put up spectacular votes about the certain show on this page so that everyone can see. If you put the time and effort into a vote, I think you deserve a little recognition.

Tourney Staff Thoughts on the Show

"It was like watching a moving painting. Simply gorgeous." - ShawnHacaga

"It looked pretty. Sh!t was boring as FFFF though." - cay032692

"Didn't watch it but I'd tap that." - Swaggercandy

"???" - bobland

I haven't watched Rolling Girls yet but I think I'll watch that next; this gif just helped sparked my interest in the anime.

I didn't actually finish any of Group C and I don't really care about the ones I watched part of so...

Group C

skip

Group D

5 - Durarara!! - Kind of meh for me but I watched further than anything scored lower.
4 - The Rolling Girls - boring and harmless
6 - Haikyuu! Season 2 - Not too many shows are a must see on the day it airs but Haikyuu is one of those. Good cast of characters, funny, and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
2 - Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches - not a fan of harem (or reverse harem) series
1 - Prison School - just a no for me
3 - Yuru Yuri Season 3 - cute girls rates above harems

Group C

6 -- Eden of Grisaia (One of my favorite VN series, which influenced my most recent romance novel.)

5 -- Food Wars

4 -- GATE (Finally, a "parallel world" anime with an older protagonist. We need more of these.
Older protagonists, I mean, not parallel world anime. We have enough of those already.)

3 -- RWBY III (RIP Monty Oum)

2 -- Mr. Osomatsu

1 -- Yuri Kuma Arashi

Group D

6 -- Haikyuu Season 2 (Rivals Hajime no Ippo as my favorite sports anime/manga ever, which is saying a lot).

5 -- Prison School (I've actually only ever read the manga, but its artwork, humor, and characters (especially Gakuto) are top-notch.)

4 -- Yuru Yuri Season 3 (Possibly my favorite Slice of Life series.)

3 -- Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches (Started out great, but kind of dwindled near the end. Still fun, though.)

2 -- Durarara!!

1 -- The Rolling Girls

This is my first time voting in one of these so I hope I'm doing it right. Three of the shows I nominated got eliminated in the first round, and I forgot to vote. They weren't close enough to matter though, but I need to make sure to vote this time!

Group C

Food Wars - 6 I loved this show and am very happy it's back. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it from the first episode, but the foodgasms weren't as bad as I thought they would be and I loved the characters, (especially Soma). The food Soma makes (well, the food he makes when he's not torturing someone) just looks so good I would love to try some, but I don't want to lose my clothes.
RWBY III - 5 Great season, lots going on and the end just killed me.
Mr. Osomatsu - 4 Very funny. All the characters were so over the top. I still think the first episode was my favourite though. I thought it was hilarious. Great show to watch for a good laugh.
Eden of Grisaia - 3 I have not seen this show yet, but I was interested in it and it is in my queue. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Hope to get to it soon.
Yuri Kuma Arashi - 2 Once I start watching a show, (especially a new show) I try to give it a fair shot to get better if it gets off to a slow start. I had to push myself to finish this show. I know quite a few people liked it, but I couldn't stand it. I waited for it to get better and not just keep repeating the same clips and lines over and over again, but it just didn't get any better and I never got into it. Heck, I rated a show I haven't even seen above it.
GATE - 1 Didn't watch.

Group D

Haikyuu! Season 2 - 6 I like sports, but have never watched sports anime. I don't know why, I just figured they wouldn't be that good for some reason. I was so wrong! So many people seemed to be looking forward to this show last year that it got me curious. I binged the first season before the second started because I loved it so much. I looked forward to this show every week. You get to see all the characters trying to improve their skills, and even if they're failing miserably not giving up. They pushed themselves to get better and they did. I liked that. I loved all the characters, and their rivals (especially Oikawa). The matches were amazing to watch and took my breath away. Just such a great show, and I can't wait to watch the next season.
Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches - 5 I wasn't sure what to expect from this show from the description, but I really liked it. I enjoyed all the characters and thought it turned out to be a very fun show to watch. I would definitely watch another season if it got one.
Yuru Yuri Season 3 - 4 I loved the previous seasons, and this one was great as well. It's a very fun/funny show to watch that I always looked forward to because of that. My girls enjoyed what they saw of it too. *digs into rum raisin ice cream*
The Rolling Girls - 3 It was a very pretty show, but I just couldn't get into it. It didn't grab me in like some shows do, but I did enjoy it overall.
Durarara!! - 2 Want to watch it, and again it's in my queue, just haven't had time to watch it yet.
Prison School - 1 Didn't watch. It may have been good, but didn't look like my kind of show.

Ugh! Even after reading it over I just noticed now after posting that I reversed two shows. Hopefully it won't make much of a difference in the end.
