I wish laptops had a standard like desktops do. I would love to build my own laptop.

what kind of specialized work do you do that requires a gateway, and only a gateway? as far as I know, laptops of all brands run the whole gamut of specs, and gateway isn't any different.

You actually can build your own laptop if you wanted to. You or your technician just gotta know what to do.

The work I do is drawing and animating, and the softwares I use, require space, a high-graphics card, good processing speed etc to allow those programs to run - (Photoshop, Illustrator, AfferEffects and Autodesk Maya for 3D)
.A macbook, Alienware or Cintique would be better for me, but I can't afford those atm, so Gateway for me is a better temp alternative.
HP, Toshiba and Dell are more used for office work. When I had to buy my laptop for Animation school, laptop specs discussion was spoken of like it was an obsession. Nobody recommended HP, Toshiba or Dell for the work we were gonna do, lol.

I don't want to buy one to find out though.

Had a bad experience with Gateway, I never had a laptop completely flat line on me before

I Think Dell Is pretty good, I would have gotten sony, but I didn't want to bother ordering one

and my notifications didnt work.

Was your gateway refurbished or brand new? Cuz mine is 4 yrs old and still going.

new, but that was back in.......2003? I had it for like almost 3-4 years, but I did kinda max it out with music and other programs, soo disappointed I couldn't get those back.

anyways, it was a questionable brand back in that time, I dont know what model or year you have now

I've had a black Toshiba satellite for about three years now. The outer case is kinda crappy and I accidentally broke it around my charging port but it's served me perfectly

Acer currently. Usually go with ASUS but my budget was very low and got the cheapest thing that could fill my most basic computer needs. Will run some mediocre/low end games.
