Just as the title and description says, feel free to discuss anything to do with the Rurouni Kenshin anime series. You can also discuss the Requiem for the Ishin Patriots movie here if you wish.

You can also ask questions, talk about things regarding the anime and its movie, etc.

Happy posting!

So, any fans still around? Hopefully I'm not the only one still enjoying the anime!

I am planning on rewatching this series very soon. It will be fun revisiting this classic anime series again.

One of the first series I ever got into back in the day....

Someone needs to rerelease this in a cheaper version.

Hopefully VIZMedia can rescue this anime and rerelease it in a cheaper price. And maybe even do a redub since I didn't really like some of the voices Media Blasters had for some of the characters. VIZ has had some good voices for characters in Bleach, Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Sailor Moon. Hopefully they can do the same for Rurouni Kenshin.

This is still in my queue--at the very first spot in fact. But I've been pretty busy with simulcasts, so I haven't got back to this yet. I did watch a couple of episodes and found myself of disliking one voice in the sub to an extent that it's mildly irritating, and while I like that character's voice in the English dub okay (even though I generally dislike dubs), there's at least one other character's voice in the dub that is even more irritating.

I don't normally find the Japanese voices noticeably annoying, so that was unexpected.

I loved Rurouni Kenshin back in the day. What kind of upset me was that the third season was never aired on Cartoon Network/Toonami.

I liked the main character Kenshin so much, I used that name in my SSB Brawl tournaments.

It's been ages since I last watched Rurouni Kenshin and I'm a 90s fanboy.

I just started rewatching it the other day. It was one of the first japanimations I watched ever. It was refreshing and good to see. I Battousai forever. It's actually a very edifying animation, IMO

Anyone fans of the live-action adaptations? My podcast group recently started reviewing them (me as the newcomer, and my co-panelist Jon as the long time fan). We'd love to know what fans of mainly the anime think, since Jon only read the manga. Take a listen here and let me know if we're full of it! https://borderlinepodcasts.podbean.com/e/shishi-oh-no-rurouni-kenshin-part-2-kyoto-inferno-live-action-film-review/

I'll jump on the bump. Requiem for the Restoration Royalists was everything I wanted out of Kenshin all in a single film. Was really glad to see it after being underwhelmed by the TV series but really liking the concept and character.

Rurouni Kenshin is my favorite shounen anime. Very beautiful and great characters all around. Definitely a must watch for shounen fans in my opinion.

It's a shounen classic for good reason.

Rurouni Kenshin is a classic for so many reasons, its worth giving it a proper go. Don't rush it either, take your time to enjoy it, although there are a ton of very emotional episodes.

I would recommend watching the anime until the end of the Kyoto arc, and read the manga for the Jinchu (Revenge) arc.

EDIT: However, as others have mentioned, after the scandal (and his reply to the crime), I'm very reluctant to support Rurouni Kenshin and unable to love the series as I did before.

problem is we are never going to see the end of the manga now, after what happened with the author VizMedia wont pick it back up even though it restarted in Japan

and i dunno about anyone else but my thoughts on the series have been tainted by what happened

It really does feel "tainted" now. It ruined the series for me.
