I can't log into the app.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
It gives the error code 503.
I can login on the website, though.

Is something going on with the app?

Same with me, suddenly I can't log into Apple TV app. I can log in with my iPad, my phone and in the web but no in the Apple TV. And I see this thread has no answer. Completely frustrated!

I dont try and use apple tv much but this issue comes up alot
any ideas for fixing this?

As this didnt resolve "by itself" as a normal 503 should do (503 indicates a server side problem, as opposed to a client side error), I dediced to concact CR support last sunday. Today it is Saturday, and its still not working. I have yet to recieve anything other than a generic copy-paste message relatively unrelated to the problem we are experiencing.
This problem have been reported in a few other threads in here as well, so it might not be so easy to find the current status. At least when the current status is "nobody knows"
I think the Apple TV have service have been dead for at least 10 days, but it doesnt seem to be prioritized as this primarily affects users with the slightly older Apple TV devices.

Mine is a Gen 3, or A1469 as the official model number is.

What sucks about this is that there is nothing you can do to fix it for yourself. Crunchyroll needs to fix it on their side.

So, does this mean the newer models of the Apple TV are working just fine and it's only the older ones that are having issues?

If purchasing a newer model will solve all my problems I might consider it but I shouldn't need to.

Can anyone confirm that the Crunchyroll App is working properly on the newer models of the Apple TV?

Most likely, yes.
I have not been a Crunchyroll user for more than 8 months or so, but during that time, the same problem have occurred a few times, and it was always these "old" Apple TV units what were affected. The newer ones are running another OS and works more like an iPad, just without an integrated monitor. That isnt something I'm into at all, but most of the diehard Apple fanbase have embraced this new unit even though it doesnt necessarily offer anything useful to them. I could rant for hours about this.

If I need to buy new hardware, I'd rather have CR officially state that they will stop streaming to Apple TV, and that they stop advertising on the Apple TV platform, than just doing it on a hunch. And I personally would never buy the newer Apple TV units. I'd rather build a HTPC that could actually do some useful stuff. But thats just me.

At the moment, I'd rather have CR get their Apple TV service up and running again. And use Wakanim and Netflix in the meantime.

Thanks for quoting. There's are other legal site to watch anime in the mean time. I just hope they fix this soon. It's been 12 days now.

Today, I set up am old Gen1 Chromecast that had available, as I do not expect this to be fixed anytime soon. At least not for another week, considering CR's complete lack of interest in this matter.

This is not as good as on the Apple TV, but sufficient as a temporary solution. Sound and picture quality is acceptable, but the control interface is not the best. However, it beats not being able to see anything. And compared to Wakanim on Chromecast, it is MUCH better, especially the sound. Wakanim have compressed the sound so badly that it actually hurts a little, especially during intense musical parts like intros.
Crunchyroll on the Chromecast sounds a lot better, more relaxed and natural.

However, if the Apple TV start working with Crunchyroll again, I will definitly switch back to that, as it is a much better experience on every aspect.

Add me to this list. I am getting Error 503 on my Apple TV when I try to login to Crunchyroll.

No fix after 13 days. I guess all we can do is wait it out. Are you using and older Gen Apple TV or the new Gens?
