i just went premium on VRV, and liked my crunchyroll account, does that mean i dont have to pay crunchyroll?

Correct. You only pay for one or the other, not both. You don't get monthly guest passes here with the payment path you took though, if that matters to you.

Is VRV ever going to be available in the UK?

One of the reasons I've been holding off on signing up for Hidive is that they don't have a Roku app, which is how I prefer to stream anime. VRV DOES have a Roku app. If I subscribe to VRV after Hidive takes Funimation Go's spot, will I be able to watch Hidived on my Roku through VRV?

I don't see why not. I'm still not sold on subscribing to HiDive continually, but I'm hoping there'll be a "HiDive channel only" subscription option for VRV, because if there is I'll use that when I want to use HiDive. It would be worth an extra $1/month to get offline downloads.

from my understanding, offline download is already available to all premium users at no extra cost. you just need to link your premium to VRV.

I've been doing that with CR since January I'm talking about HiDive content. Last I saw, there was no way for Funimation subscribers (who subbed through Funi's site) to watch on VRV unless they instead bought a sub to the $7/month Funi VRV channel through VRV.

Funi being $6/month (monthly) and HiDive being $5/month, I'd hope a HiDive VRV sub would be available for $6/month. Which combined with CR (I'm paying $5/month annual) is more than the $10 bundle, but again, I don't want to sub to HiDive all year. Sentai doesn't get much I want to see (unless that changes) and there isn't much left in their catalog that I want to watch.

Edit: I thought I remembered the Funimation channel being $7/month, but if it was $6 then even better (I just saw a post saying it was). The option seems to be gone from VRV (as expected) so I can't confirm there.

Does VRV have access to all the titles on CR? Cause if it does, I'll just switch to VRV entirely.

There are very few strays, things like those newer foreign language dubs. About a month ago, I went through comparing the lists using because.moe and only found two or three others. And, since then, I think digimon and St Seiya Hades have gone from here, too...

If you prefer VRV's format (I personally don't, but I'm not you), other than the inconvenience of making the changes, (hopefully uneventfully...), there's no reason not to switch. After you cancel here, you can pay only there, and still link the two accounts after creating (or using an existing) VRV one. Then you will still have premium here in case something really is missing...

I've been checking regularly for the HiDive channel to add the next show in my PTW, Higurashi (When They Cry), and it's up now. Current library: https://vrv.co/hidive/browse Yay fun times with cute girls doing cute things (sarcastic)

Every few weeks I get a bug with subtitles not appearing while offline viewing, while under settings (as of today anyway) the only available option is "no subtitles." Usually it fixes itself and subs come back after a day or two, but today it didn't even last long enough for me to put in a report using the new (I think?) "report a problem" feature. Once I got back to wifi I restarted the app and downloaded a new episode of a different show, played it and it had subs, and then everything I'd downloaded before had its subs back.

I only switched from CR to VRV because of Funi. Not sure if I will stay on VRV or switch back yet.

I am honestly very disappointed with VRV as a service and I will try to explain myself without being too subjective about it based on my experience with mostly the web app and a little bit of the roku app.

1. The Customization of your experience is non-existent. Watch lists are not reliable. Continue Watching section featured on the home page has no organization available, and if you watch a random episode of something one time, it's there forever until pushed out or however long VRV decides before dropping it.

Having a profile as opposed to an account has absolutely no meaning. No interaction between users besides a very arbitrary commenting section for episodes.

2. There is no feedback feature for VRV in the app or anywhere officially. No ability to report broken links. No ability to report mislabeled episodes or series. No option to give your opinion on your experience.

The help section provides you with 'frequently asked questions' to browse that are few and far between, with no ability to ask any of your own questions, because there is no 'contact us' option anywhere. Customer Service in this regard is absolutely pathetic in this day and age with so many apps existing for things less and more complicated than streaming services.

Crunchyroll and Ellation are very obviously not interested in hearing from you about how the app is terrible, because they already know and have no initiative to improve as evidenced by zero changes in the app for the entirety of my membership.

3. The app itself is just a disorganized and unfriendly mess that is not even functional a large amount of time on roku. I have not had any streaming problems or functionality problems web-side, as to be expected, but the roku app will crash in ways that I can replicate from simply trying to stream an episode. The streaming-rate is actually atrocious on roku as well, buffering on a 5g connection router multiple times an episode.

Even while working as intended on the web-client, the design and experience is so disappointing for 'premium membership' that I'm honestly just surprised at this point. The Crunchyroll tab still has 'New Spring Simulcasts' listed and the 'Summer Simulcasts' is only visible on the Home tab with half the series leading to 404-broken link pages. Searching through series? Forget about it. The search function is merely a word for word search in titles only. Genres have been given no regard. Layout has been given no regard between sections of the client. This whole app has been given little to no regard in terms of giving an impression to customers for repeat patronage or referral for new business.

Now for my purely subjective take on this app and my experience.
I stuck around after Funimation separated, but what exactly is Hi-Dive adding? Not much. I suspect most your customer business was from people who wanted to bundle Funimation and Crunchyroll and so you didn't care to have anything more than a simple platform to provide that with as little maintenance and input as possible after the project did not take off with massive success. Well seeing as no improvement to the app has happened prior and post exodus of Funimation, I can only assume you just do not care to extend interest or investment into the continuation of VRV as an app or as a service anymore.

I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend VRV to anyone, especially those who already subscribe to Crunchyroll on its own. After many months of paying for the service, I can say with at least a bit of validity, VRV is just not a good service and experience to its customers and has massive room for improvement as it stands today. Hopefully this post changes even one thing, but my expectations are very low.

I see this day may come. Sooner or later in 1 form or another; since it's been talked about among fans 4 years. A (top) secret acquisition? CR & Fun merging forces 2 become CrunchyFun! (Or Funirollor Funroll but that may not "roll" off the tongue like the crunchy 1). Bringing Your favorite anime dubbed & subbed!

You're late... They did create a partnership that lasted about two years, but that was dissolved again at the end of last year, so it's a dead thing now. Since AT&T owns CR and Sony owns Funimation, the chances of another merger are very slim now unless one of them buys the other one out...

You misunderstood. I was referring to a permanent FULL merger. Not a partnership nor the 1 they had awhile back (and yes, btw, I did read that Crunchyroll-Funimation partnership forum & the comments there because THAT'S WHERE THIS LOGO ORIGINATED FROM). That is why I didn't mention that. I've seen this with Yahoo & Verizon, Essendent and Staples and so on. So, I am not late. Business "politics" can throw "chances" and "statistics" out the window at any given moment. A lot of it depends on the market and who is at the top (investors, board members, etc.) Proof was in the partnership. After several tries, who knows what number is the charm. It's obvious that someone or they are trying to work something out...eventually. It was to test the waters, sort of speak. Stuff like this don't always happen within a few tries or a brief period of time. As we both said, 1 likely will buy the other which is relative to my point.
