I'm glad I wasn't the only one. Since it's not virtual reality, this is a horrible name for.. whatever this is.

So if we make a subscription will it automatically connect a "base account" to all streaming sites? Or do I still have to be a member for select sites in order to link my account? Will it add to the money I'm already paying for accounts or will it replace all of the fees such as: I'm a member on crunchyroll paying the premium fee, will I need to continue paying my premium account to link or will it just create a psuedo-account that acts like a premium account on all the streaming sites in the package?

I just signed up for the trial yesterday. What it looks like right now is that currently you can only link the Crunchyroll account, though I've decided not to do that. There's pretty good info on their help page. Basically, as I understand it, if you are a premium member on Crunchyroll and you link your account then you can watch Crunchyroll via VRV without having to buy a separate VRV subscription.

If you buy a VRV subscription that includes Crunchyroll, and link your accounts, then you'll be able to watch Crunchyroll either through VRV or through Crunchyroll as you currently do. So, if you decide to buy the VRV combo that has Crunchyroll and Funimation and a few other things, you should cancel your current Crunchyroll so that you don't double pay, but having signed up for the Crunchyroll channel (or combo including it) you should also see premium benefits on Crunchyroll directly. It doesn't link things like your queue or watch history. It just gives you a premium account that you can access via either service.

The thing is that I've worked hard to get 40k CR points so its hard just to quit the crunchyroll account to save money.

Dropping your subscription doesn't make your account (or CR points) disappear. You simply revert to being a standard (free) member.

You don't delete your account. You just cancel your subscription here and wait for it to expire, get the combo plan on VRV, then link the accounts. The combo plan membership on VRV will give your account on Crunchyroll premium status again.

Yep, after linking account and switching to VRV paid you don't get premium access through Crunchyroll. And the VRV apps suck.

Signed up for VRV and followed the instructions to the T so I would keep premium status on Crunchyroll. Today I find out that I'm back to the free version. Where did I go wrong?

I think it's great to have more options, and to have new contracts that include streaming as part of the model.

I'm not thrilled about bundled packages like this. I don't particularly care about some of those offerings.

I stopped paying for cable due to packaged services. I end up paying for content i have no interest in, but the middleman will continue to buy that content regardless.

Since I don't get to vote on upcoming shows or content, what I spent on a subscription is the only form of feedback I have into this process.

I don't mind paying apple a little more, given i don't have to watch commercials and I only put money towards the shows I'm interested in. My only wish is that more of that $$ went directly to the publisher / artists.
