question for people who have finished this game: is the story good? sometimes i hear it is good while others say it is mediocre.

In my opinion, it was mediocre. Nothing bad to say about it. It even continues a little in The Frozen Wilds expansion. If you ask me, the gameplay is the thing that makes this game so great.

It's a story that starts ok, but then it goes downhill really fast. The final mission was a joke. It lacks a lively world. Villages have no real life to them. The only good thing about it is the machines to me, and shooting bows.

ah man, yeah both your points sound exactly like what i have heard about this game. i think the biggest death nail for me is that the villages have no life to them. it's funny, a game like Nier:Automata has such outdated looking graphics and bland environments. at the same time tho, that game has so much life to it and you can feel how vibrant it is with its' creativity. so when i heard that a beautiful and technological marvel-like game like horizon is just sorta lifeless, it is really disappointing.

Having played both: The village NPCs in Nier:A don't really do anything the village NPCs in Horizon don't (though they at least have the narrative excuse of being robots).

I agree with the sentiment that Horizon's story isn't really the game's main appeal, but rather the "robo-dino" designs and graphics/environment. The story wasn't horrible, it just doesn't stand out as being anything special, or even all that interesting, compared with the game's strengths.

Similarly, the graphics in Nier:A aren't horrible (at least, the character models aren't), but don't seem all that special compared to its strengths.

That's my two cents, at any rate.

Every time I play or watch my brother play Horizon Zero Dawn, I wish Aloy would stop talking. Watched him fighting Glinthawks and the Stormbirds/Thunderbirds, getting destroyed by lightning damage, but he refused to use elemental resist potions. He was still winning, he just really leaned on the shield armor and dodge rolls.

Gameplay looks like it depends on stealth, disabling, and entrapment, but that isn't necessary at all once you get good with the dodge rolls and bow, then learn how to cheese everything else with Line of Sight breaking.

Yes, the story is good, if you put the effort in to pay attention and find collectibles.

The Frozen Wilds story wasn't all that great IMO, but the main story is good. It does remind me of Uncharted 4 though, in that the story of the past is actually better than the story of the present.

Horizon Zero Dawn is great, we got robot animals and lots of cool arrows to craft, a cool story, and lots of interesting side quests.

Also the more gingers in gaming the better.
