Chrome no longer supports Crunchyroll (flash)
![]() |
So Chrome upgrades have completely nuked all flash use. WTF are you gonna do about it Crunchyroll. I love you guys, I support you guys. I give you my monies and now your entire site is useless to me. Thankfully I have smart tv's in my home but for fux sake guys!! Move to the future, or rather in this case, THE FLIPPIN PRESENT!! Flash is going all dodo mode and has been for the past few years. . .are you really gonna just let your user base burn because a recode is slightly difficult, and I do mean slightly, ONLY SLIGHTLY. Killin me smalls, killin me.

What they are going to do is likely waiting until the beta of their html5 player is in a state where they can roll it out for all users.

chrome://settings/content and scroll down to change the default Flash settings. I prefer the "Ask First" setting. With that, you have to manually right-click to play any flash content.
Aside from that you might do one of these: Try the HLS plugin Upgrade to Premium Plus (or) Wait for the general release to non-plus users of the new HTML-5 player that is currently in beta. If you are on Windows 10, try the app: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/crunchyroll/9wzdncrfj15t Use Vivaldi instead, a different browser based on Chromium. Watch on one of the other /devices |

I am having problems with Chrome as well. I have Windows 8. My Google Chrome browser is updated, yet, I am unable to get any video from Crunchy Roll to play. Even more strange, is the Chrome browser on my job's computer plays the videos. I have tried to install an older version of Chrome on my home computer,to see if that would make a difference, to no avail.
What makes me even more perturbed and highly annoyed, is the lack of answers from Crunchy Roll and the lack of customer service. If I am a paying member, I expect to get appropriate service. Trying to find a way to contact customer service is difficult on this website, and it should not be. I am about to cancel my membership. There is no excuse for having a lack of response to a problem that I have been having with their service, since December of 2016...Crunchy Roll, please establish a better means of customer service. Please provide your patrons with real service, and answers to their queries. Our dollars help make your business run. Lastly, please provide an answer specific to those having an issue playing your videos. I have also tried to play your videos on Firefox, and it did not work. Any assistance is still appreciated. I am open to remarks, until I make my final decision to cancel service. Thank You. |

If you are having issues just download flash as a seperate entity. People have gotten used to it being packed into the browser but once upon a time you needed to download it seperately.
On a slightly different note I wonder just how much longer flash will be a thing? Pretty much every popular service is experimenting with HTML5 players and only offers flash as a back up if the HTML5 player isn't working. So once we get to the point that it's got it's bugs worked out all but the more minor sites will probably phase out Flash completely. |

I like how the OP rants and raves it is CR's fault so the OP looks like an idiot, but flash is a basic function in Windows OS or Internet Explorer since the dawn of the stone age of computers. Of course, Ford Model T cars still operate next to Hybrid and Electric cars, so that thing called an engine still works to go faster then a running speed (but I am digressing )....it might be something wrong with your computer or a simple file update in Flash it self, not CR. Works on Microsoft Edge if it is on your OS, which works just as well as Chrome for me.
tl;dr - Flash is like a wheel, it keeps things running so if it not broken why fix it? Yes, there are better media players but Flash might be used to let the bottom of the pyramid for CR's viewer base for a wider audience since not everyone on this planet called Earth has the latest hardware and soft ware. Further tl;dr is step down yourself in tech if all you want to watch is anime, even tablets and smart phones work if you don't mind the size. |
Watching from behind you!

I'm running Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit)
Can everyone who is currently able to stream confirm their version? I am having this problem as of today on my work laptop and home PC, the Home PC ran it fine last night I believe or at the least the day before last night. So I wonder if the latest Chrome update broke something? Though this update was released on Feb. 2nd so it's not making much sense what would have changed in the last 2 days. UPDATE: After further testing I found the culprit on my end. I started using the Private Internet Access extension in Chrome which apparently disables Flash content. After disabling the extension itself(not just turning off the proxy), and restarting Chrome videos are playing fine, enabling and restarting causes them to stop. So maybe the OP should verify if he is running this extension or something similar. Another possibility is disabling all extensions, restart the browser and start enabling them one by one(restarting after each enable) and see when videos stop playing to find the extension causing this. |
