Hey everyone,

We've got some exciting news for The Ancient Magus' Bride fans- there will be a TV anime series coming this fall, and Crunchyroll is excited to be simulcasting the 2-cour series starting October 2017! Additionally, territories for this title are WORLDWIDE ex Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Hatori Chise has lived a life full of neglect and abuse, devoid of anything resembling love. Far from the warmth of family, she has had her share of troubles and pitfalls. Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits her. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains her through a slave auction, Chise's life will never be the same again.

The man is a "magus,"a sorcerer of great power, who decides to free Chise from the bonds of captivity. The magus then makes a bold statement: Chise will become his apprentice--and his bride!

We will be announcing more information as the series gets closer, so be sure to keep checking for more news and details!

Yeah, I like that! Now, to wait for Crunchyroll when they announce Latin American simulcast streaming rights to both seasons of Attack on Titan and the rest of anime that WIT Studio worked (except Kabaneri, of course due to... Amazon).

One more time: thank you very much!

Can you announce more manga series please? A lot of the series on the site have ended recently or will be ending soon... Unless you guys are done with licensing new manga which would really suck

Wow, really great news! Nice to get confirmation that a series will be on CR so far in advance! Also nice that it will be available in so many territories (even though I'm in the U.S. myself )

As for the show itself, I liked what I saw of the 1st OVA. Excited that it will be 2-cours.

I would not be surprised if both the early news and the large territories either come from Crunchyroll having a close relationship to the production committee ~ either being on the production committee itself or signing a contract that was the basis of an international licensor joining the committee.

That kind of deal might be the best hope for a recovery in access for Southeast Asia, which is one of the few regions that used to get more anime than they do at present.

I agree. The fact that the news of the series even existing and that Crunchyroll would be streaming it have come out at the same time strongly implies they've been involved with the production on some level.

Crunchyroll already invested in more than two dozen anime production https://blog.ellation.com/2017-is-the-year-that-anime-becomes-mainstream-805764022e81#.bz3rnqdgx

Most likely this is one of them

I knew they'd been involved in some series before (Kiznaiver, possibly Wooser?), but I was unaware of this, thanks for sharing

Exciting! I've had this in my mind often as I hope for the next part. A nice 2-cour series is even better, so much more room to flesh out their story! Thank you!

Yes, there is a joint venture to do this kind of thing ... it's not a "one-off" ... so that is the most likely link.

From the elation blog post linked to above:

Through our partnership with Sumitomo, we’ve already invested in more than two dozen anime productions and our efforts are starting to bear fruit. ...

... this is the joint venture with Sumitomo which was first announced back in 2015 (eg, Sumitomo press release at UK Anime Network).
