The second round of the Group Stage is over! Again, to no one's surprise, shows like My Hero Academia and Re:Zero dominated this round. As you can tell from the tiebreaker, this round was VERY close. Well, in two groups at least. I'm sad to see Girlish Number go. Gahahaha. I'm also bummed that Thunderbolt Fantasy also didn't make the cut. Sadness. Also, never doubt that Monogatari hype. Koyomimonogatari actually managed to advance. Poor Yuri on Ice, lots of people hate you. Anyways, winners advance to the Round of 32 and the losers are placed in the Revenge of the Fallen pool.

Stay tuned for the next round!

ReLIFE 3 - 1 word, Piano.....AND THATS MY ReLIFE! But honestly its a pretty decent series, and came out in netflix style too, how cant you appreciate that?
Kagewani II 4 - Gah I wish i wasn't so tired right now to really go into this series, so i am hoping someone else does it for me, *Cough* Loki *Cough*. Its very underrated and one of the few anime i would say accomplish suspense and "horror" well. The biggest surprise is that this is accomplish in about 7 min per episode, continues through the monstrous world of Sensei B, and keep you glued to your seat as he finds the secrets to the mystery which surrounds his tragic life. With how short it is I think its a good watch for any one, and the art style fits the show very well, just give it a chance. Its a bang for your buck anime with little time investment yet quality mystery to it, with a nice ED song.
Bungo Stray Dogs 2 - The power of money yallllllll
WWW.Wagnaria 1 - ugh I wish i didnt have to give this a one, liked it a lot even though some gags got repetitive

Food Wars 3 - Super rushed, but still brought the food intensity i craved.
Kiss Him, Not Me 1 - Only seen about 2 eps, its was enjoyable tho
Snow White With the Red Hair 4 - Back to back winner? Legit Wife Material, and a pretty good cast and strong chemistry.
Kiznaiver 2 - Marathoned, was def Trigger trying something a bit out of their scope, the positives balanced the negatives. The emotional impact was a bit lacking.

Sweetness & Lightning 3 - Ah my heart <3
The Great Passage 4 - Seriously, go watch it, it might start out dull, but trust me its a nice chill watch especially if you are someone who likes Mushi, Natsume, and any chill exploring shows....you get to explore the meaning of words here.
Please Tell Me Galko-chan 1 - She would be into me =], seriously a top girl...just a 1 here for show =[
Sekko Boys 2 - I had to lend this guys a hand....since they dont have any, great OP

New Game 3 - Hajime man...<3 flipping HAJIME
Phantom World 2 - Kyoani is the biggest c*&k tease, nothing but blue balls of what could have happen with this series after seeing the source.
Ushio & Tora 4 - Seriously, this show goes beyond and gives you everything you want T.T
Magical Girl Raising Project 1 - Ha, ha, ha, ha...go to hell.

That moment when the least popular entry to a big franchise that was released through an app manages to beat one of the most popular shows the of year in the first round...

I was hoping Yuri on Ice would go further as well. I didn't think Tanaka-kun was loved enough to take first place uncontested.

I wonder how long it took to make that Yuri on Ice image.

You know if I didn't know any better I could swear Seeetness & Lightning was intentionally placed into an easy to win group. Going against 2 shorts and a show most people didn't watch. Probably just my paranoia speaking though.

1 ReLIFE
4 Kagewani II
3 Bungo Stray Dogs
2 WWW.Wagnaria!!!

Kagewani was my favorite show after Rakugo of 2016. It used it's unusual animation style to enhance it's horror aspects and make the monsters that much more terrifying. Most things you say for season two will be sort of spoilery, but luckily Kagewani is a short and everyone who hasn't seen it should go watch both seasons before the round is over (it'll take less than three hours). If you have any love of kaiju, cryptids, or horror, definitely check this show out.

Bungo Stray Dogs was crazy and amusing. It had wacky characters based on famous authors that made paying attention in English class pay off. Though the first four episodes of season two stand out from the rest. If that had been a stand alone series, it would rank up there with Rakugo and Kagewani.

Group 10

Watched none of these

Group 12

1 New Game
3 Myriad Colors Phantom World
4 Ushio and Tora S2
2 Magical Girl Raising Project

The final episodes of Ushio and Tora hit the ground running and went hard to the finale. Hakumen no Mono sealed it's position as best and most terrifying antagonist of the year (sorry Kira, but you get to be the best human antagonist). It built off the first season and pulled together everything into a satisfying conclusion. Special mention to Tora's back story, which was excellent and depressing.
