LATE VOTE

Group 9
4 - WWW.Wagnaria!!! - An anime I would consider as one of my favourite comedies of last year. Some may say that some recurring jokes were run into the ground, and I can see where they're coming from, but even so, I feel like it delivered consistently. The characters were all really enjoyable, and I loved them all. The relationships and dynamic between them all is really what I feel brings this show to life. This is an anime I wouldn't at all mind watching again.
3 - Kagewani II - This show is proof that you don't need to be a full length anime, or even have good animation to tell an engaging story, and be a pretty damn good anime. Despite its unappealing exterior, everything else about it was great.
2 - Bungo Stray Dogs - This was another pretty good show; nice premise, interesting characters. I didn't think it was anything extraordinary, though. I found the story pretty lacklustre, and personally, it didn't really leave that much of an impact on me, as much as other shows have. I hesitate to use the term "forgettable," but although I consider it a good show, I never really cared all that much about it.
1 - ReLIFE - I haven't watched it, so it comes last.

Group 10 -
4 - Snow White With the Red Hair S2 - A great show that I can see people are still salty about, seeing as it won an earlier tournament. A shame, and unfortunate that bitter feelings will no doubt hamper its chances rather than what people actually think of it in terms of quality, but I guess that's salt for you. Anyway, this show had some pretty powerful characters, in the sense that they felt layered and well developed. Certainly moreso than at least half of the other shows in this group. The romance elements didn't feel cheesy and/or corny like many shoujo romances can feel. Nor did it feel excessive, like it was overstaying its welcome. The story was very well paced, and highlighted how even as a victim Shirayuki can still be a strong character. Certainly moreso than most of the characters in the other shows in this category.
3 - Kiznaiver - I personally really liked it. Despite thinking some of the plot was pretty much nonsense, I still enjoyed the story. I still enjoyed seeing these characters being forced together. I really liked the premise, and thought it was executed pretty damn well. It got me sufficiently emotionally invested, and it played around with the characters in ways that I just loved watching.
2 - Kiss Him, Not Me - A really enjoyable shoujo, harem, romantic comedy. Kae made for a very amusing lead, with her fujoshi mentality, and was one of the higher points of this anime. I will say, however, that at times some of the other characters got slightly annoying, and also, some characters were frequently less enjoyable than others. I wouldn't go as far as to say I hated any of the characters, but some of them certainly had moments that lowered my overall enjoyment of the show.
1 - Food Wars! The Second Plate - Eh... I don't hate Food Wars. I consider it a pretty damn good show... theoretically. I mean, everything is there to make it absolutely amazing, and there are a couple of characters that I really enjoy, but I tend to find it boring. Or rather I should say that I tend to just not care about the competition aspects, or the excessively detailed food descriptions. It's an amusing show, that I really just can't get behind.

Group 11
4 - Please Tell Me! Galko-chan - A short more people should watch. This tackles those hard hitting questions, every teenager wonders about. In all seriousness, this was one of my favourite shorts of the previous year, and yet I have little doubt that the appearance of the main character likely drew people away from it. Ironically, Galko is a highly genuine character, surrounded by some very amusing classmates. This was a show that asked awkward questions, and answered them in comedic fashion. Despite being a short, and despite the obvious impression it may initially give off, this is a very good anime.
3 - SWEETNESS & LIGHTNING - Very adorable. It was just a really heartwarming anime, and I loved watching the father and daughter bond throughout the anime. This was a show where there were very, very few moments that you wouldn't be smiling.
2 - Sekko Boys - Boy... It's not a bad anime, but it's at most above average. The gimmick was amusing, but that's really all I see it as. An amusing, yet gimmicky anime.
1 - The Great Passage - Another show I haven't watched.

Group 12
4 - Ushio and Tora S2 - I would consider this one of the best of last year. It told a very compelling story, developed the characters brilliantly, created some very powerful and epic moments.
3 - New Game - One of my favourites of last year. I loved every character. I found it highly amusing, at damn near every moment.
2 - Magical Girl Raising Project - A great show, that I highly enjoyed, but unfortunately not enough to rank it higher than the above two.
1 - Myriad Colors Phantom World - Meh... It was nice, but pretty average. I enjoyed it, but just not enough.

Stupidly easy vote:

Group 9:

Abstain. I've only seen 1 show in this group.

Group 10:

4) Kiznaiver - Trigger's first drama was good. It just needed more episodes to avoid the rushed ending and give the rest of the characters some development. Putting this higher than Food Wars just in case it's not doing well.
3) Food Wars! The Second Plate - The pacing felt faster than season 1 but that's ok. The matches still got me hyped and the outcome was surprising. That poor turtle though...
2) Snow White With the Red Hair S2 - It came back from the dead and won last year's tourney, so I guess it must be doing something right. Still not interested enough to watch it.
1) Kiss Him, Not Me - Don't care about this at all.

Group 11:

4) Sweetness & Lightning - Sweet story. So sweet that Tsugumi should be locked up for giving people diabetes. That girl is too cute for her own good.
3) Sekko Boys - Honestly, it's nothing special at all other than a unique concept. Still, it was funny and the guys have a rock solid resolution to be the best idols.
2) The Great Passage - Haven't watched it but I've heard nothing but good things about this show that's apparently about making dictionaries if I heard that right.
1) Please Tell Me! Galko-chan - Don't care.

Group 12:

4) Magical Girl Raising Project - Madoka Clone #666 was actually pretty good. The Hunger Games nature of the plot made it clear that most of the cast were just there to die and weren't important in the overall picture. There were still some characters that left an impact. Hardgore Alice was easily the coolest and while I hate SwimSwim, she was a good villain. It's unsettling seeing a sociopath that young.
3) Myriad Colors Phantom World - This show was incredibly stupid but fortunately it was entertaining. KyoAni gave us this amusing dumpster fire and had no shame. I normally wouldn't want to see a continuation of something like this, but the second LN makes me wish for it since I want to see
2) New Game - I can't see what the appeal is. It's no different than the million other moeblob slice of life anime except this somehow manages to have even less interesting content than usual. Hifumi was this show's only saving grace.
1) Ushio and Tora S2 - Haven't seen it.

4 ReLIFE I like a good romance, what can I say?
3 Bungo Stray Dogs Giving this a 3 simply for being absurd. Haven't watched
2 WWW.wagnaria!!! Haven't watched
1 Kagewani II Haven't watched

Group 10
4 Snow White with the Red Hair S2 I like a good romance, what can I say?
3 Kiss Him, not Me! Had me laughing consistently, but the whole weight loss thing kinda irritated me. Maybe I'm just bitter
2 Food Wars Heard good things, but haven't seen
1 Kiznaiver Oh boy, where to begin... The physical pain sharing was done well, but I dropped it after the emotional pain started, as it was frankly absurd, and very poorly depicted and described.

Group 11
4 Sweetness and Lightning Sculpted from solidified warm and cuddly.
3 Sekko Boys I have to give this a 3 just on sheer WTF. Haven't seen
2 The Great Passage Sounds quite interesting, added to my PTW list
1 Please Tell Me! Galko-chan This show seems to try to depict real life, but without the ugliness. WTF?

Group 12
4 New Game Watching this show is like drinking distilled cute.
3 Ushio and Tora S2 I've only watched a couple eps of S1, but I plan to finish it, eventually
2 Myriad Colors Phantom World first off, ep 1 was a train wreck. Second, it doesn't even matter how good the show itself is, with an idea and setting this overused. Absolute shit
1 Magical Girl Raising Project As stated above, it doesn't matter to me how good the show is, with an idea this overused. Did we really need another battle royale? No.

Edit: shit, I took too long to actually type it out...

The third round of the Group Stage is over! Food Wars owned this round, big time. That's not shocking though. What is shocking is that SEKKO BOYS didn't advance. I know, I'm sad too. *sheds manly tear* Hell, even the show that had the honor of being my tournament's theme this year is out. But alas, we knew not every show could win. The fight for those #2 positions were pretty close though. Remember, every vote/point matters. The reigning champ of last year advanced at least. DANGIT WHY IS SEKKO BOYS OUT? Sorry about that. Anyways...

Stay tuned for the next round!
