Round of 32

Match 5:
Koyomimonogatari

There's something irresistibly alluring about sitting on the engawa, eating doughnuts, and observing the slow-falling snow. Though a bit more layers or hot tea might be needed if one isn't a vampire.

Koyomimonogatari is very different from most entries in the franchise. First, it is episodic rather than arcs of episodes. Second, it is far more relaxed compared to the usual urgency. Which isn't a bad thing in my book. I loved seeing the daily lives of these characters, as they sometimes solve mysteries along the way.

Match 6:
Erased

There are moments that prompt us to realize how we take certain things for granted. A relatable example is a warm breakfast. Not everyone is so lucky to have families that care for them. Its a rare enough feeling when one gets frustrated due to the circumstance in a show: through various episodes, I wished that I could have also helped these kids.

Match 7:
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable

Battle Shonen in its craziest form. This season was a blast. I particularly adored the Rohan-centric episodes. He's really an outstanding yet misunderstood comrade. Josuke and Koichi just can't seem to trust him.

Match 8:
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

Among my favorite stories from any medium. This is a tale the encompasses the full life cycle of its cast. It was so fascinating to see the evolution of Kikuhiko, Miyokichi, Sukeroku, Konatsu, and, finally, rakugo itself. The flow of time is unstoppable. Some characters choose to go with the current, while others remain steadfast in their positions.
