My K-Pop journey only started a few months ago! I love Exo, Red Velvet and BTS (HIXTAPE HYPE), but have tried branching out into others such as Seventeen, all of NCT's incarnations and Blackpink too! I'm always looking for new music so hit me up with suggestions

Well I listen to some, mostly from MonstaX and Got7. I also recently discovered the beauty of Korean underground music, they're actually great. Too bad they're so underrated.

Been into Kpop for a few years now, absolutely love it!! I have so many favorites, so I'll choose just a few:

Female:
-EXID
-Red Velvet
-SNSD
-Dreamcatcher

Male:
-SHINee
-Super Junior
-BTS
-VIXX

I follow more, of course, but these I would classify as my stan groups...though SHINee is by far my favorite. I have every album, and am eagerly anticipating June 12th!!

Me too! Im still soo sad but Im glad SHINee is pulling through. Like the choreography for good evening. They never look once directly at the camera because they wanted it to be just them together.

Never listened to K-pop really. Listened to a Shinee song since you seem obsessed. Their new music video song "good evening" - not bad. Video leaves a bit to be desired, completely basic, but it's pop so staring at dolled up dudes or chicks dancing and making pointless and dumb expressions is part of the gig.

I can totally accept that. It took me numerous listens before I allowed myself to even slightly enjoy a Kpop song. I appreciate how open-minded you allowed yourself to be!!

Please dont say that. "Good Evening" is the first since the loss of Jonghyun and contain many symbolism. The spotlight, the fox, shadow, choreography and empty chair are just a few things point out. It is not empty or pointless song, at least not this time. Im sure there is a video out there point out everything if your actually interested. Jonghyun is the 5th member who committed suicide back this December. This whole album is not only the 10th anniversary but also the loss of Jonghyun .

I guess I was a long time Kpop fan before I knew what Kpop mean. There's so many I've forgotten and groups who I haven't been up to date with. I definitely loved all the groups you guys listed. Seriously, where did all those times go? We grew up with our fav artists/idols. We see them rise and fall. We see them go their separate paths & we definitely lost some as well.

Here's some other groups I've remembered:

Other artists/bands that will forever have a place in my heart though they aren't really "Kpop":

NELL
SALTNPAPER
Dear Cloud
Urban Zakapa
The Rock Diamond & some others

Seeeeee....there's the context I needed. Now it makes more sense. Hard to grasp much without subtitled lyrics lol. Good for them for getting back to things after a band member tragedy though.

Yeah, I know. The song really doesn't have any English lyrics so it is difficult to figure out. Also, I had no clue that they lyrics contain some of Key's open letter to Jonghyun. Until I saw it in the comments of this lyrics video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgynBtslBAU
So the song is even more for Jonghyun then I originally first thought.
Actually, most K-pop songs are like this they seem happy and pop-y but have more meaning to them once you get down to the lyrics.
Dont get me wrong songs like Twice is "Likey" is just fun. Unless someone out there tells me of some dark hidden meaning in it. hmm actually it would be what Hyuna talks about in her song "Babe". How the industry makes you look younger and cuter for as long as they can.
But thats the dark side of kpop ...

That list has some of groups that I actually forgot about! At least TVXQ is still around they just did a comeback not to long ago. But for the ones that disbanded at least some of the artist are still singing solo. Like sunmi from wondergirls with "heroine" and hyolyn from sistar with "dally"
those are the only two I can think of... do you know of others?

I've heard stories about the Korean pop music industry being like a slave trade, especially if you're female. It's as if some are just pieces of meat up on a market.
