Somewhat hilariously, the app was working fine until I became a premium member. Now I have the same error on Fire TV.

Anyone find a real.ution to this issue yet? I'm having troubles with the app on both shield tv and galaxy tab. It was working then mid using the app to search it gave that error and haven't been able to use the app at all.

My solution was to unsubscribe and get my anime elsewhere until Crunchyroll sees fit to deliver a working product (at which point I'd be happy to start giving them money again).

WTFFFF now I am getting the same error. Ever after uninstalling/reinstalling. WTFFFF I might have to cancel my account. Too many problems with the service.

I had the same issue today. My advice is to install Kodi with the Crunchyroll addon so you can enjoy your anime on Fire TV or Shield TV if that error occurs on the official app.

I've been having the same issue on my SHIELD Android TV and all my Android devices (tablet, phones). I thought it was just the busy weekend but it's still happening today. When are they going to fix all of these issues?? Why do I bother paying for Premium when I can never watch videos on my devices when I want?

My family is visiting briefly and we have very limited time together before they have to leave. We liked watching My Hero Academia together and watched a couple episodes before the ads got annoying. I decided to buy a sub again so we could squeeze in more anime and waste less time watching ads.

So I bought a subscription and now none of us can watch anything at all for all of the reasons people have outlined in this thread. No fixes work.

Also, for like 2 years of subbing off and on this TV, every so often I have to clear the cache to get my queue and history back. It breaks and won’t even let me log out, so I have to delete everything and relog. Pay someone to fix your stuff. You’ve had so much time.

Subbing to this broken app was my mistake. I’m going to petition for my money back. Fix your apps.

If the android app is anything like the Fire TV (and apparently also the Xbox) app, you have to remember to gracefully back all the way out of the app as soon as you are done watching for any length of time, even if it is short. Don't just switch to another app without closing the CR app, and do not use the Home function to get to the main device menu. Otherwise it tries to maintain the connection, but eventually that times out, which causes the queue/login problem.

I'm not saying it isn't a problem, and it is kind of a pain to remember to exit, but until they fix it, you may want to try that to see if it reduces your frustration with having to do the clear data and re-login steps.

FWIW, after you first posted this solution I tried it on the Shield TV Android app, and it doesn't help there. The problem will eventually crop back up regardless of always quitting fully out of the app.

I HAVE ONE SOLUTION

First use a hotspot connection from your phone or whatever.
Open the app with that connection.
Then switch to your usual WiFi connection.
Done.

This does not seem to work once the session is restarted. Once I start it's fine but if the app gets closed on wifi the issue will return, at least from what I've seen so far. It is progress though, so thank you!

Someone posted this in a different thread. But if your router can clone the modem Mac address and let you edit it you can try that. Basically you clone the Mac address, and change the last hex digit (0-9,a-f). Once that a done reboot the modem. That seems to work, for how long who knows.

Turns out the solution is to ditch the Crunchyroll app entirely and just use the VRV one. It's not as good, but at least it works reliably.

So I have Vrv and crunchy roll. Both do this crap seems to happen when my internet goes down.Wondering if it's cloudflare like others have pointed It may be isp related but doesnt affect my other services though. I can fix it simply by using a VPN. It will stay working after I disconnect so there is some sort of handshack issue be that isp or Crunchyroll.
