Being single $30/hr with no benefits since with the extra $20 per hour I can buy my own health insurance and put away my own money into an IRA if need be.

Not sure how much I'd like working from home in general, I mean I'll do it every once in a while at my current job if there is a large snowstorm and I have stuff I have to get done, but other than that I'd actually prefer to get off my butt and drive to the office. It's a mental thing, I'm also not really productive with homework at home either.

I did work online as a consultant for a university once creating lesson plans for them and did my work at a cafe or library and it went quite well. I think these types of jobs are great part time income supplements, but I highly doubt you could live off of one in its own right.

That being it, these jobs might be better than a lot of the crappy no benefit minimum wage jobs out there. It is almost unheard of to be offered health insurance at any company working part time in the US, that could be a deal breaker, especially with one with dependents.

Did you know that in China people are only allowed to drive their car 6 days out of the week based on license plate? I learned of this during the tour in China. I'm guessing they have too many cars on the road.

Not surprising, when I was living in Colombia the city I was in banned driving on a similar system for 2 out of 5 weekdays.
Didn't effect me though, people drove way too erratically for me to even attempt to drive there, I happily used public transit instead

there are a few scenarios come to mind-- being a roman emperor is not one of them

I collect money from tax payer! What else am I if I'm not Roman Emperor? I'm not Mafia boss nor have any Mafia connection.

-withdrawal his sword- ah I see, have you come for my head dulun18? :p

"be your own boss"
it's the common slogan they like to throw around to contractors (lyft, uber, amazon flex, etc..) You wage is not guaranteed and you will have to put a lot of hours into it without any benefits at all

The are various positions that will allow you to work as an employee but don't have to be tied down to a desk/computer. There travel nurses? auto adjusters,etc.. There are companies hiring people to provide customer service through VR (video remote). You can work from home instead of a call center.

doctors do not get a lot of contact time with their patients like the nurses do... so this make it even worst

of course, if you look at it from another perspective it's convenience for those who live far away from the city -- or you can't go to the doctor or the doctor can't come to you etc... You can now see a doctor that are miles away from you!!

btw, are you still working from home ?

it's still my full time job.. for now. I hope to get it and start working for the city soon. They have 4-6 positions and hundreds of people applied. The competition is fierce! Well, i have bills to pay so I'm continuing to work from home for now-- while going through the hiring process again.

silly OP, 15 is only the minimum wage in states where the cost of living is ridiculously expensive!
my last job paid me 7.65-7.75, since I live in a "lower cost" state, true story, and that's not even livable
