Looking bad in front of our friends, relatives, and political constituents. No one wants to be "that guy" who makes Pedro suffer.

Because if the mistake is bad enough you can ruin your entire life.

Who suffers what consequences and how easily repairs can be made tend to be major factors in how serious a mistake is.

We are not what we remember of ourselves.
We can undo only what others have already forgotten.
Learn from your mistakes, so that one day you can repeat them precisely

because without the fear of mistakes, we would have no reason to avoid them. mistakes are avoided when we exercise the knowledge we've gained by them

it has just struck me what an odd logical loop this question deals with. how very post conceptual

Because some mistakes are too costly to our fears of loss, or we fear we'll never learn. Some things can't be fixed, sadly, but having the courage to try again is a very admirable trait.

We make them, we're just afraid to ADMIT them...Aren't you?

(And if learning from them is such a good thing, why do we get so upset when others HELP us become aware of the mistakes we made?)

in the terms of like learning, understanding and discovering new things its not bad to make a mistake, but in a more physical case a mistake could involve personal endangerment with injuries and so on. So yes if you do make a mistake you will learn from it, but depending on the scenario it could involve in something really bad happening,so you'd rather avoid making such mistakes in the first place.

One can only fear making a mistake if it is unknown.

Once a mistake has been made you can understand the consequences of said mistake and thus you no longer fear the mistake but you gain a fear of what that mistake entails.

Now in reference to your post.

If you have learned from the mistake you would have no fear of it coming again because of the wisdom gained through the experience.

It is not a fear of making the mistake that remains behind but fearing the consequences attached to a mistake.

All of which is a natural response. Why don't we grab hot pots and pans directly from the flame with our bare hands? Because you learned once when you were young hopefully that it would burn you.

You associated the pain(consequences) that came with the action (mistake) and thus gained a fear of the pain(consequences) not the action (mistake).
