I feel so sorry for those of you that only get 1 tb per month. Oh wait, I'm stuck in eastern Montana. I got forced onto the highest data plan that Exede provides. $130 per month for 25 gb with a robust 2mb/s speed. There is no broadband or fiber internet, and I live out of town, so no cable internet either. The only other option for me is dial up.

I do get unmetered data between midnight and 5am, so there's that.

I think CenturyLink is planning to lure in new customers from Cox . You will also get a $100 Visa prepaid card too now

my promotion with Cox will end soon so that 120Mbps for $55/month is pretty good.

I was told that they will be a new customer again if you don't have their service for 3+ months. I'll come back after 1 year then.

my promotion ended now the price of internet jumped to $68/month for 50Mbps while they have the new preferred plan with 100Mbps for $73.

This is why they throw away the 2TB data cap before and start charging people extra for speed OR you can sign up for unlimited speed for $50 more...

In Australia they generally charge $10 for just 1GB if you go over the limit.

Is this for phone or home internet? Home internet I have is 100% unlimited...as I know. Considering how many games I download each month and it doesn't add anything to the bill.

Wait.. data use caps ?

What third world country is this?

Net use is unlimited in Finland, with set in monthly fee, just speed is capped not amount you can use.

i've decided to stay with cox. My bill was around $80 for 50Mbps/5Mbps internet and phone line then it jumped to 95$ after the promotion ended . I called them and asked if they can give me a discount. They lowered the bill to $85 and also doubled my internet speed 100Mbps since the current plan i use is no longer available.

I have 100Mbps/10Mbps internet now for $5 more a month. I'm happy with it so I'll stay with Cox for now.

Centurylink will charge $60 for installation if you sign up for their 80Mbps or 120Mbps plans + I have to buy the modem for $100

Didn't even know there was a cap for the internet for home use. I've always had unlimited.

I am metered now

I usually come within 200 GB of capping it, but apparently they will give me 3 free months if I go over. Sounds generous, but I know this is just how they start.

Fiber supposed to be here within 2 years. I might not still be here, but if I am it's bye bye comcast.

Same here in southern California, only cap is on speed. Usage caps are ancient, seriously move from wherever you live and join the civilized world.

I haven't seen this posted (or didn't read far enough back). But what about Verizon. I have a plan with the where it's around $70 per month bundled with a really basic phone plan and there is no data cap. But I think there are speed limits to it.

it's spreading. 1TB data cap is not enough if you are streaming 4K contents or have 3-4+ people in the house

All COX communications customers all have 1TB data cap now. CenturyLink didn't release anything yet :/

Yeah that's the directions it's heading. Gets me pretty frustrated.

I agree 1 TB is not enough. I use the internet a lot, but I had no idea I was eating through 700-800 gb/month, and I don't do 4k. 1 TB is nowhere close to enough for the future. But that's not even the argument we should be having, because that's the trap right there. Once you take a step down that road, they've already won.
