What do you think America would be like if we had a king and queen instead of a president?

I think I would be the ruler, and rule as a cruel King, eventually driving the people to rebel against me in a brutal war what will end in the deaths of millions, but as the rebel hordes break down my citadel I'll launch the Nuclear Arsenal against my own nation, thereby destroying the rebels and my own Kingdom,.

So not good.

It's not a monarchy at all, if the leaders are elected. The closest you can get is a "constitutional monarchy." I don't expect much of a difference, if any.

It's quite a what if scenario. Depends on the person in power and the people who they choose as they're advisors. Though I imagine it being more hierarchical and feudalistic than it already is.

It is a monarchy if the leaders are elected. It doesn't have to get close to a constitutional Monarchy, because thats what it would be.

Thats what the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was.

Oh, yeah, it'd be an elective monarchy. Still, me being wrong doesn't mean you had to break the quote. Why? It didn't deserve it!

Sounds like a John Bull to me:
We don't need no queens around here, mister--In fact, speaking of queens....

Wait, why don't we just go out back of the train car, and settle it by shooting quail?

thing it would be down right stupid and ugly. If the Law was like back then, then i wouldnt want a King or Queen. Since im basically handing them a ticket to Full power of my will and off everything . that would be stupid on my part its like i am so lazy to even think so i let someone else do it .
but the down side to that is that if i were to even go against there thoughts i would be thrown away. Nah no thanks i will not hand my power out so easily i would rather sit and discuss with people there point of views and elect someone that i feel can do great for the nation and if that person doesnt judge correctly then we can always revote and chose someone else. it allows u to be part of something and understand others views as well as be the ruler of the path which u wish to lead it also shows the people that anyone can be a remarkable person u dont need a bloodline to tell u that. and hey u never know if a king did allow u to vote openly he is a King he can take it way right . he is after all the ultimate law and i dont like the law to only be written by 1 person i like others to contribute to it and to really think it threw.

Tyranny is the default form of government throughout human history. From the earliest tribes ruled by a chief to the monarchies of the middle ages to socialism, communism, fascism and all the other flavors of tyranny practiced today. America broke the tradition of tyranny and did something different for the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire. Divide power among the many so that no single leader or small group of leaders could have major control over the many.

Technology advancements were either slow or not at all for over 1000 years prior to America's founding. While there were some advancements like muskets instead of swords and large ocean-crossing ships, those changes took centuries to implement. Since America's founding, those same technological advancements that previously took centuries were happening in mere decades. I don't think this is a coincidence.

If America were ruled by a king, I don't believe we or the world at large would have so many innovations as it does today. Innovations are rarely invented by government, they are invented by individuals who have a need and have the ingenuity, perseverance to overcome, and the freedom to do so. More than not, government regulations or laws hinder innovation. If it weren't for America's freedom and ingenuity, I think most people would travel on trains with only the wealthiest owning their own cars. Few Americas would own their own home, most would live in small apartments with no modern appliances like washing machines or dryers and there wouldn't be personal computers, smartphones, or widely used internet like we have today. Might not even have electricity in most homes.

+1 to that

Thinking about it a bit, it might be kinda funny if the USA turned out like the Holy Roman Empire, with each state ruled by a prince who then convened in Congress to elect the federal Emperor from among their number
