Because you'd prove to be a reliable source of water for an entity coming soon near you.

My biggest problem with being single is the eventual judgement I will receive from my family, friends and coworkers. The only person I've loved was too good for me in every aspect and I was trying to get myself to a level where I felt worthy but I am still not good enough. The best thing for me was removing myself from that persons life. It helped me feel less pain. Love is illogical and some of us will find it. Others wont but there is more to life. Friends, family and personal goals can keep you going.

You learn to move on after a while. It's not easy, but it takes little steps.

Why do they hurt so much?

I'm assuming its just a part of life, but being in a serious relationship for almost 2 years & still finding yourself in arguments all the time really just shows how much the relationship won't work.

My question is why do we need to be in a relationship so bad in the first place?

EDIT: So glad to breakup finally, well not really but..life is hard. 9-12-17

We don't need to be in relationships. At least not romantic ones. It's probably just pressure from the shows you watch or something.
And yes, it does hurt, but you will get over it like we all do. And we know we will, we just can't see it that way when the wounds are fresh.

yea I agree, for now I'm glad that whole relationship is over over, life is too short for toxicity.

When I broke up with my last gf I cut off all ties completely. Blocked every means of communication she and her friends/family had with me and instructed my friends and family to do the same. I have been hurt way too much these days to linger on pain and resentment.

I've been there before by the way.
It hurts so much because you treat this person like this person is your everything, your life, your happiness etc.
when a break up happens, you begin to lose your sense of self because your life has been consumed by this person. it's like an addiction.
then the pain of break up hits you, your heart breaks into pieces. that will hurt like hell.
you'll move on and heal yourself. Get stronger. It will make you stronger in the end.
there's a reason behind everything. this person is not right for you. You need to start loving yourself and stop thinking about your Ex.
if you keep thinking about your ex, that pain will continue to haunt you. You need to go out with your friends and meet more people.
enjoy life, do your hobbies, travel, there's so much more to life than being in a relationship (that's what I realized).

Attachment leads to suffering. Pain in life is inevitable but suffering is optional it just depends on how well you are able to let go
