The anime boom of the late 90's and early 2000's.

Back then, anime was among the scarcest mediums ever produced for a Western audience. Toonami aired a lot of anime series that were aimed at a niche audience, compared to Pokemon on Kids WB primarily being mainstream. VHS's and DVD's were also scarce, incredibly expensive, and only containing a couple of episodes of a series rather than all of them. Dubs were also never really that faithful to the original source material, and were heavily censored and edited to fit with a younger Western audience. The internet wasn't that advanced enough to handle streaming anime series, either, and even when it did evolve throughout the early-to-mid 2000's, there was a lot more pirating of anime than legal streaming of them. Finally, you have the fans, who acted like self-entitled buttholes who frequently turned down mainstream audiences for not being as into anime as them.

Nowadays, with Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, and Netflix, the opposite managed to become true. It was a marathon rather than a jog, but that marathon was eventually worth it all.

When a Japanese VA voices an American/Canadian/British character, and tries to speak in English. Even when the lines are gramatically correct and not cringworthy engrish, they still have a incredibly thick Japanese accent. It really takes me out of it when a character is described as being a native English speaker only to have them open their mouth and sound like a native Japanese speaker who got a D in English class in high school

I saw an instance the other day where an English character wrote a note, in English, full of grammatical errors. The errors weren't the common errors that native English speakers often make. There were subject verb agreement errors, use of incorrect verbiage, improper tense, etc. Couldn't they have bothered to find someone who knows English above a grade school level to write the note?

You practically wrote my answer but whatever, I'll say it again.

8. Oh look, he accidentally touched her boob and got slapped! However do they come up with such original jokes?
7. Shounen fight explanations.
6. Yandere.
5. Tsundere (unless mild).
4. The harem full of unsuccessful girls who never even think of trying for a different man.
3. Gratuitous fan service.
2. Giant boobs. Big is fine as long as there's variation among the characters. "How does she walk?" is not okay.
1. Lolis. Please, for the love of God, enough with the lolis.

#8 isn't #1 is because they do it just once per show.

Siscon/brocon stuff seems to be the trope that is in right now. Of course, in most instances the siblings end up not being true sibilings.

I actually found it hilarious in Chivalry of a Failed Knight after Ikki told Stella his sister was enrolling at their school, Stella said "don't tell me she isn't blood related or something". They turned the trope on its head, and then ended up having the sister cross acceptable boundaries of siblings showing affection anyway.

I take it you haven't seen Garo: The Animation (and no, I'm not mistaking the father for the main character).

There are definitely others, such as a character many hate from a series with the poster girl for yandere.

Fair enough, that's just as awful.

I have the same complaint as Cobaltseas: the industry caters to the fanbase too much, such that the tropes have to be there - to the point that they absolutely wreck the story. And they almost never attack those tropes. Saekano could have been shockingly good had it actually punished its main character for having everyone else orbit him; instead it forced all the characters to love orbiting him, even when he was horrible to them, just so the fans could revel in its haremness. This season, Hajimete no Gal is surprisingly good - it actually lets the characters fail in their childish understandings of relationships, and it points out how stupid they are - but it's hanging by a thread, because what it's doing contradicts the standard harem script, which it's also trying to follow since that's what fans expect of it.

Understood.

That said, I'll admit while it would likely be possible to list every anime where there was actual confirmation of two characters having a physical relationship, listing the ones where that doesn't happen would probably be a futile effort.

For recent Anime, it'd have to be how 'processed' everything feels.
