Hello. My name is Maddie.
I am 19 years old and from Denmark.

I am just going to jump into whatever I am trying to tell you guys. I am new to watching anime. I have some sort of ''history'' with anime. I got a few anime movies from my brother when I was a kid (7 years old). But they scared me back then.
I found those movies recently, still in their wrapping and thought I wanted to watch them. I thought the movies were great. But not enough to wanting to watch more anime. Then, only five days ago I saw an intro to an anime series that I found intriguing. It was called ''Kotoura-san'' I ended up watching it here on crunchy roll (that's why i signed up for this website to begin with) I got totally hooked and wanted to see if they had something similar or just something else that i would find just as interesting. That's when I found ''Say ''I Iove you''''. I watched that serie to the end. Both series made me cry, laugh and cringe whenever something bad, good or awkward happened to the characters. And that just indicates that I really enjoy anime and really live into it when watching it. So now i've decided to be fully committed to this community and ask all you knowledgeable anime fans out there. Is there something out there that you'd think i would like? I am a hopeless romantic but i also love drama. Im okay with some fantasy involved and i am also a sucker for clichés. I am currently watching ''Classroom of the elite'' which I am also digging. I've been on crunchy roll for about 5 days now and i've already seen five series. I guess you can say I am hooked

I hope you can help me out. And if theres anything else I should know, that are important to anime: References, sayings etc. Please let me know. My brother is a twit with a phone, so he can't help me and he has a total different taste in anime than I do. So no help there.

And I'd love to get to know you people as well! You are welcome to message me.

Love, Maddiepuuh

Pssst....you should watch Watamote. Solid cringe humor, right there.

Oooh, and Cowboy Bebop.

Oooh, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Oooh, and Kill la Kill

Oooh, and Mob Psycho 100, Psycho-Pass, Sabagebu, KONOSUBA: Gods blessing on this Wonderful World, Re:Zero: Starting Life in Another World.

Just a bunch of my favorites.

Hello and welcome to the Crunchyroll community, Maddie.
I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying anime again. Unfortunately, we are in different regions so I have no clue what is available for Crunchyroll's Denmark/Europe region, so I guess I can just list a few and hope that at least some of them are available for you. First off, I agree with the post above (especially about Cowboy Bebop, it is great). Watch anything and everything, that's how you find things that you didn't even know that you liked. That being said, since you specifically said that you like tear-inducing romance/drama series, I will try to help with that. Clannad: After Story and Your Lie In April are two of the biggest shows in that "crying" category. For more of a comedy twist on the romance and drama though, shows like Toradora and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions are two popular ones that are enjoyable. If you liked Kotoura-san, you'll probably also like Kokoro Connect.

Other suggestions that involve some amount of both romance and/or drama:
Anime Series: Spice & Wolf, Anohana, Nana, Plastic Memories, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Movies: 5 Centimeters Per Second, Hotarubi no Mori e, Wolf Children, The Garden of Words
Most Studio Ghibli films are also worth a watch. Between the stories being told and the incredible animation, they're hard to hate.

Then of course there are the hugely popular movies that have come out relatively recently: Kimi no Na wa and Koe no Katachi. Both are worth a watch if you can find a way to see them.

Kimi ni Todoke seems like it may be right up your alley, with romance, drama, some humor, etc. It's somewhat similar thematically to Say "I love you," given that the female lead is quiet, has no friends, etc. with a romantic interest who is a popular pretty-boy.

I might think of more suggestions later, not much time at the moment.

They have been mentioned, but i'll reiterate them. Your lie in April, Kimi ni Todoke, and Toradora would probably all match your style and all are very good.

I would also suggest My Love Story!! It's not your normal couple and the male MC is definitely not your typical romance guy, but he's great. Less on the romance, but still really good, I would recommend My teen romantic comedy SNAFU.

Good luck!

It isn't a romance but, when you are ready to expand your horizons a little, the drama/comedy /non-non-biyori is very popular. If you like it there are several others that are similar that we can then recommend.

that's the dangers of watching older kid stuff at a younger age (if you're not use to it just yet) sorry about your bad first encounter, however it could have been related to anything, from a book to live action. regardless, try something more simple to taste there are plenty of offer here. such nicer ones that interest me are (and might not be available here) are Trigun, Outlaw Star, Ghost in the Shell franchise, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Witch hunter robin, and just about anything in the Studio Ghibli is a joy to watch. some more Japanimation in the not so kid friendly location aka a lot of gore and violence/scare are: (some of the first section) including Akira, Hellsing (Ultimate is worse), vampire hunter d/bloodlust, biohazard (English translation being Resident Evil), Texhnolyze, trinity blood and gungrave.

hope this helps you some and welcome to the fun
