Heck yeah I'm looking forward to this. Secret of Mana is one of my all time favorite games. Certainly in my top 10. Great memories of playing this in the summer of 94' with my brother. One of my favorite soundtracks too. I even remember the names I gave the main characters, which I will be reusing.

Boy - Tambi
Girl - Mia
Sprite - Zaq

In Australia you guys didn't get Final Fantasy Adventure (the first Mana) or Sword of Mana (the remake)?

Yeah man one of my all time faves. I was 14 when i played it. One of my mates introduced me to JRPG's and was the one to really get me into anime. At first i though JRPG's were shit and kinda gay, i hated the turn based combat. Funnily enough now i love turn based games but back then the non turn based style of Secret of Mana was way more appealing. Plus we'd play it together.
We always used to hire it and sometimes my mate would hire it and keep it for weeks lol. We almost finished it together but in the end he finished it, i later bought it an finished it on my own.
I remember i called my character RATHAS, it was a random name i thought of and i used that in RPG's for a while. Then later when i thought i was a rapper i would call myself sumwhatkrazy as a rapper and then in video games as well ^^;
Now i often just used my actual name.
I loved the sound track.

They are going to change the sound track and game play a bit so hopefully they dont stuff it up.

Nar back in the day before everything was region free we missed out on heaps of games. We didn't get any of the other mana games back then. I remember FF2(or maybe it was FF4?) was released on Snes as "Mystic quest legend" and we didn't even get FF6 (released in USA as FF3) so yeah we used to really miss out on alot.(we could use converters for Megadrive/Genesis & Snes and import games at least)

I remember having a magazine which featured Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Dentsu 3) and was saddened that it didn't come out here.

I couldn't even get Street fighter Alpha 2 on my Saturn back in the day!

Spewing the remake is still like 5 months away. But i haven't bot played a JRPG in ages so maybe this will get me back into them (i prefer western ones overall now)

I had a similar outlook on JRPGs as you did. Hated them at first, thought they were boring. Then after Secret of Mana a friend let me borrow Mario RPG and after I enjoyed it so much he recommended me Chrono Trigger. Those were my gateway JRPGs and got hooked after those.

Sucks you guys missed out on some great jems. The states did too, but not as much as you guys.

Yeah i got hooked on JRPG's after Secret of mana. It was the reason i bought a Snes(i was more a Sega fan). And then for many years i almost only played JRPG's and fighting games and survival games and maybe some rts games. But mostly Japanese games for a long time.
Then it was pretty much nothing but JRPG's and fps games.
Now its pretty much western rpg's or strategy games and fps games.

Never played the Mario one but i did play Chrono trigger. I got heaps of JRPG's on snes and PS1 and PS2. I own so may on PS3 that i never played and have some on GOG and steam also.
I played heaps of them on Xbox 360 as well. And a few on Saturn and Dreamcast and Game cube.

Weren't many on Sega back in the day but you did have phantasy star and shining force and Land stalker.

Yeah so many never get released outside of Japan and back when everything had a region (we were region 4/PAL) so much was never released here and England and New Zealand, etc.

The sad part is I also want it on the Vita as well as a boxed copy.

But I have SoM on Snes, Wii shop, IOS on 2 separate accounts, android, the switch collection and I have a Snes mini on pre order.

Part of me has thought if I go out and buy pretty much all the releases then maybe square would release the original planned version at some stage. Unlikely I know but a penguin can dream.

lol iam not clicking on that link. I've been an idiot and played some on line pokies in recent times and i want to avoid even free ones.

Good to see lots of fans of Secret of mana though, many people i know never played it back in the day. I guess JRPG's weren't that popular back then (in some places).

I think iam going to finish off the Witcher 3 DLC and play the Xcom 2 DLC while i wait for this to come out. And of course BF1, and a little PUBG.

I love Secret of Mana, but I'm really not liking the look of the graphics they decided to go with. I'm hoping that they'll release the collection to us Westerners on the Switch. Not sure I'm going to play this remake.

It dose look kiddie but i think it is a pretty accurate style of what the game would have looked like if it were 3D.

The fact that it's not yet coming to Switch tells me that it must be a license situation, but i guess if it's on PC (Steam) then it isn't a case of it being a Sony exclusive.

$39.99 U.S. for the Steam release. Sorry, but ... no. I do not have faith in Square Enix to produce a good remake, particularly considering their piss-poor track record for other games in this series. As it is, I still my SNES cartridge (enshrined, since it can no longer save data) and the Android port (only $9.99 U.S.), so I am good for Mana for now.

I'll definitely give it a go, but I'm not super hyped since I don't have any nostalgia due to not having played it back in the day.
