Tsugumomo went from "basic supernatural middle-school action comedy" to WHOA HEY WTF AM I WATCHING really fast.

The shift was fast, but it didn't happen until the fifth episode. I'll give Eromanga et al. credit just for being crappy from jump.

Truth. I was lulled into a sense of complacency, then holy shit.

While I have cringed at a lot of shows, the one I remember doing so a lot would be Oreimo, and more specifically the second season. There wasn't much cringeworthy stuff in the first season, but the second season destroyed just about everybody's character, and that was something that made it tough to watch. Kyosuke was a great guy after everything he did in the first season to help out Kirino, but the second season took everything he built up and threw it out the window as he was simply a jerk without sensitivity. All for the sake of incest. And that scene where he punched his childhood friend was when the cringe factor reached its peak.

I have to agree, I enjoyed some of the comedy, but the drama factor reached sky high to something on the level of Haganai in the second season, with yelling matches between Kuroneko and Kirino over same vague feelings for Kyousuke. In the first season, there was a bit of realism with how characters developed and interact, now we have gone full Jerry Springer with them and honestly, I never liked the first season, but I have been thoroughly disappointed.

I only liked the Love Plus episode, to be honest.

Your recollection of that is faulty:

I think Hell Girl's Season 4 Episode 5 had some serious cringe regarding the kids that were killed.

Plug Charger Juden-Chan is very cringy. the main character is a delinquent type who has to deal with the magicla girl type plug girls, and he often does it by using his baseball bat on them while they wet themselves. It's a reversal of the usual genders with "humorous abuse" but is way too ecchi.

Bludgeoning angel dokuro chan too, that one takes the "tsundere abuses the male lead" to insanely violent lengths.

The last OVA episodes of Oreimo really ticked me off, it was just awful, made no sense.

Photo Kano

I thought it was going to be a funny story about a high school year book club. Instead, after two episodes in, it turned out to be a "funny" story about a high school kid blackmailing girls into posing for lewd photos. I gave up on it, even if it ended like School Days, I would not be interested in seeing it again.

Seven Deadly Sins is up there. Mainly because the main character just keeps on groping the female lead. While she doesn't fight back at it (which still wouldn't have made it much better) she doesn't necessarily seem overjoyed that he's doing it. It's almost like she is thinking "Well, boys will be boys" and that's a horrible mindset, trivializing sexual assault. Combine that with how cliche that anime was and I can't believe I actually watched it through to the end.
