Oricon, a data compiling company specializing in providing data for the Japanese music/book industry, has  announced the best-selling book annual rankings of 2018, which were compiled between November 20, 2017, and November 18, 2018.

As expected, Eiichiro Oda's internationally popular series One Piece has maintained its No. 1 position for 11 consecutive years since 2008. But its yearly sales of 8,113,317 copies is 3.38 million copies less than last year (mainly because one less volumes were released this year). Meanwhile, Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia jumped up to second place from fourth by selling 865,000 more copies this year, in place of last year's second top-selling title, Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan.

In the light novel sales ranking, Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online Progressive, last year's most popular

series Sword Art Online's sequel ranked seventh place. Instead, Kugane Maruyama's Overlord jumped up

to the top position from last year's ninth, selling almost twice more than it did in 2017.
