    Yess! Bringing back the oldies!
This was one of the earlier anime I watched, with absolutely no knowledge of how go works. But even with the lack of knowledge, I remember being hooked onto the anime!

Boiled down, it's pretty standard shounen anime, with dramatic and emotional moments. But the pacing is done well, the characters are lovable, and most importantly, the premise of the show is unique. Definitely worth a watch!

    Well Done Protagonist
This is one of the few "sports" anime where as a viewer you don't feel slighted by the instantaneous success of the complete noob. The show takes you on a journey following Hikaru through his ever increasing involvement in the Go world. The lack of knowledge of the game is not a hindrance to the enjoyment of the show as it is very character focused ala Chihayafuru.

An Old Classic that still holds up
I use to watch this show back when i was a kid. And happy to say it still holds up very well. This is one of those very few shows where the sub and dub versions are both good. Characters in this show have great growth as they learn the game of Go and become much stronger as the show goes on. I totally recommend watch if your interested in sport style anime with a slite supernatural spin in it.

    An underrated anime!
Hikaru no Go was one of the first anime series that I sought out specifically due to reading the manga.

From episode one all the way through the final episode, I was hooked on the series when it came to the anime and that gave me the drive to complete the manga series as well.

The main thing that irks me when it comes to the series is that it's incomplete and ends basically on a cliffhanger, ...

Great Series- Good for any age
I love this anime. Kinda wish that they had the complete series up to watch. They stopped before the international youth tournament. Hope they add that later.

Series is told over a number of years and the viewer gets to grow with the main character. Anyone who does not understand Igo is not disadvantaged as the script is well constructed. Overall one my favorites.

Great writing, give it a shot!
I don't normally watch this type of show, but I was bored and decided to give this one a shot. Wow, am I glad I did, despite not being in my usual fields of interest I find myself loving this show. The writing is just great and is supplemented by an unusually good soundtrack. Even if you normally just watch fantasy and Sci-Fi anime like I do it's worth giving it a shot.

  • AMAZING ANIME, a bit dated in animation style
I'm glad to see this here! If you liked Queen's Gambit, this is up your alley! One of my favorite anime growing up, sparked my interest in Go. Only disappointment was they didn't do the whole manga. The animation style is very '90s which seems a bit inelegant to my sensibilities and didn't feel like it matched the vibe of the manga.

  • A great anime and a great game
I've watched this anime all the way through more times than I should admit. This anime was my introduction to Go and I've been thankful ever since. If you enjoy this anime, you need to watch the OVA, as the series leaves the ending wanting more and the OVA wraps things up a bit more nicely.

  • I am not a huge "Sports" anime guy
I know Go is a game, and not a sport. But still, I tend to lump this show in with shows like Haikyu and Slam Dunk for some weird reason. That being said, I actually really liked this series. Maybe it is the blend of occasional history and the beautiful animation, but I just can't help but enjoy watching it.

  • A great old school anime
I first found this series in my school library but decided to go find the anime. At the time, I watched it on Viz, then I re-watched it on CR. I also read the manga a few times. It's an amazing anime with great characters, story, plot etc. I fell in love with this series so much that I had to recommended to my friends. This series can be enjoyed by both Dub and Sub watchers and there is no need to ...
