    An underrated anime!
Hikaru no Go was one of the first anime series that I sought out specifically due to reading the manga.

From episode one all the way through the final episode, I was hooked on the series when it came to the anime and that gave me the drive to complete the manga series as well.

The main thing that irks me when it comes to the series is that it's incomplete and ends basically on a cliffhanger, ...

    Yess! Bringing back the oldies!
This was one of the earlier anime I watched, with absolutely no knowledge of how go works. But even with the lack of knowledge, I remember being hooked onto the anime!

Boiled down, it's pretty standard shounen anime, with dramatic and emotional moments. But the pacing is done well, the characters are lovable, and most importantly, the premise of the show is unique. Definitely worth a watch!

An Old Classic that still holds up
I use to watch this show back when i was a kid. And happy to say it still holds up very well. This is one of those very few shows where the sub and dub versions are both good. Characters in this show have great growth as they learn the game of Go and become much stronger as the show goes on. I totally recommend watch if your interested in sport style anime with a slite supernatural spin in it.

    Well Done Protagonist
This is one of the few "sports" anime where as a viewer you don't feel slighted by the instantaneous success of the complete noob. The show takes you on a journey following Hikaru through his ever increasing involvement in the Go world. The lack of knowledge of the game is not a hindrance to the enjoyment of the show as it is very character focused ala Chihayafuru.

Great writing, give it a shot!
I don't normally watch this type of show, but I was bored and decided to give this one a shot. Wow, am I glad I did, despite not being in my usual fields of interest I find myself loving this show. The writing is just great and is supplemented by an unusually good soundtrack. Even if you normally just watch fantasy and Sci-Fi anime like I do it's worth giving it a shot.

  • Atari! A Classic Makes its Divine Move!
Hikaru no Go is one of those anime that shines on every level. Great drama, great pacing, great music, great characters. Even if you don't like (or care about) "sports" anime, Hikaru no Go will suck you in and keep you watching. By the time you finish it, you will understand all the Go references scattered throughout anime and Japanese culture, and might even have found a new game to ...

Great Series- Good for any age
I love this anime. Kinda wish that they had the complete series up to watch. They stopped before the international youth tournament. Hope they add that later.

Series is told over a number of years and the viewer gets to grow with the main character. Anyone who does not understand Igo is not disadvantaged as the script is well constructed. Overall one my favorites.

  • Classic - Slow Start, Stellar Finish
TLDR: Hikaru no Go is well worth a rewatch (or a watch, if you missed out on it as a kid). With charming, interesting characters and a well-paced, self-contained plot that shines more as the series goes on, it holds up for adults as well as kids.

No one could blame you for thinking the premise sounds a bit "Yu-Gi-Oh!" It's true the first few episodes have that flavor, as eponymous ...

I originally watched this back when i was in jr high as an 8th grader in 2008, it was the first anime I got into, since my local library had limited Manga books. Went through it all and loved the show. I needed a break from some shows im currently watching and decided to watch one episode. It ended up taking me on an entire ride wanting to rewatch it all, the story is beautifully ...

  • Bring Back Memories :3
When I was younger, I remember reading the manga and watching the anime. Now that I watched it again it still bring back memories about the first time I enjoyed this. The arts and emotions of this anime is still wonderful till today and enjoyed by all ages.

We all see how the game started out with someone that don't know anything about the game "GO". We also see the main character grow-up and ...
